What happened? I can't see pictures I posted, who broke Bsky?

6 vials seen from above showing red fluorescence under blue light. The fluorescence increases with the concentration of an analyte. The blue light is blocked by a filter.

One vial showing red fluorescence under intense blue light that saturates the image.

Same vial under blue light but with a filter that blocks the blue light and allows much brighter red fluorescence to be captured by the camera.

Some new and improved experiments using our fluorescent corroles. I made an illuminator and am using a UV/blue filter to enhance the sensitivity of the phone camera. We are doing preliminary sensing experiments, where an analyte increases the #fluorescence

People in industry have to spend so much of their time writing long tedious projects to fund the elements they need to do their work? And then they need to provide quotations and write notes to purchase each of those elements? Why is academia so inefficient!!

Another excellent consequence of ChatGPT and the like. I have to do this now all the time, and it's just to see the abstract page as I don't even have access to the papers.
I have a deadline of a project tomorrow and I can't even check references.

What I'm going to say it's very obvious to anyone with the experience, but staying at home with my baby is by far more exhausting than going to work.

Today I was notified that I won a position as Associate Professor (Tenured) of Electromagnetism for BSc/MSc in Physics, which I previously taught, since 2022, as Adjunct Prof with a contract. I'm quite happy, as for most of my teaching career (2008-present) I've been under contracts.

Finally reached 3000 subscribers at #youtube! Thank you!
Really happy and grateful to the people who watch the videos! It's always really fun to make videos and I always learn a lot while preparing the material. Wish I could upload more often, it's not for lack of ideas!

Almost there! Should definitely make more videos but it's been incredibly busy these last months. #chemsky #compchem

Photo of vials under UV illumination, glowing with red light. There are 8 vials, with red fluorescence roughly increasing from left to right. The background is a cardboard box shining blue from the UV light.

Just finished sending the corrections for the BSc/MSc thesis of my first UG student, Valentina! It is excellent work, and I'm really proud of her. We will shortly begin a publication based on her work on fluorescent corrole-containing polymeric NPs. #chemsky

Tough week! The youngest had her vaccines yesterday and developed a fever. The oldest had a flu-shot today. Plus I had to take the car to the mechanic, which miraculously was ready this afternoon. Glad the week is over. Super behind with work though!

A lab setting in which a photo reactor made of LEDs inside hollow metal cylinders, on a white plastic frame shines a strong red light. On top of one of the cylinders there is a photometer with an optic fiber employed to measure the light power. The whole picture has a strong red hue, which in my opinion looks cyberpunk.

Today I had help measuring the output power of the LEDs that we use for photodynamic studies. #realtimechem #chemsky

I had a few vials with impure corrole so I decided to do a small column. I never get tired of this color!

This week two new UG students started in the lab and we attempted to make a dipyrromethane. The reactions most likely failed, but still it was nice to get back in the lab. I'm exhausted now! On Tuesday we will try again. We stopped the reaction too early!

I'm too busy for Armageddon. One of the good things of Argentina is that we are outside the range of most nuclear powers. On the other hand our president is the dumbest moron in the planet. Yes, even considering...

This is so true. AI can be a good tool when you are already knowledgeable, and then only in moderation. You lose the skills you don't practice. For beginners it is a big mistake.

Introducing Diradicaloid Thiele's Hydrocarbon Derivatives as Ligand in Transition Metal Chemistry | ChemRxiv Thiele's hydrocarbon (TH) derivatives, or p-quinodimethanes, are prototypical members of the organic diradicaloid family, predominantly explored in organic and main-group organometallic chemistry. Herein, we introduce them to transition-metal coordination ...

And here is the preprint for the follow up to the Stimuli-responsive Thiele analogues paper!

Yes it's very annoying. I had already read part of the response and it looked like they had addressed my concerns, but I had not yet read the MS and SI. The paper was good quality but still, I feel I should have had the chance to check the changes were appropriate. It's not that I was overdue.

I had reviewed a paper a couple of months ago requesting major revisions on a couple of specific points. I got it back to review the improved version. I had 2 weeks time, but after 1 week I got an email that my review was no longer needed. What's the hurry?? Kind of have a lot in my plate rn!
