As Ben Bradlee would say, this leadership is akin to a “miserable, carping, retromingent vigilante.”

Rep Raskin has been great. Rep Ocasio-Cortez has been great. And Rep Frost and Rep Crockett. Senator Murphy. Maybe no one knew exactly what to do. But such people laid down a clear marker. Let’s respect these and other elected federal representatives who stood out these first few weeks.

Watching Women - University of Toronto Press

My book (utppublishing.com/doi/book/10....) launches Wednesday! Rather than stressing,* I'm making a big thread of work by people who show up in my acknowledgments--because I'm SO grateful to all of them, but mostly because they write weird, wonderful, genius books 💜

(*still definitely stressing)

Again, there are 40 men currently on federal death row, a number of whom will certainly be executed under Trump, whose sentences Biden has the power to commute.

Make sure he knows they're waiting to hear from him, too.

I teach one section of my Transatlantic Modern Women class, which begins with The Feminist Killjoy Handbook during your talk, but I encouraged my evening students to attend. Three did and wrote up their thoughts. They were THRILLED to see you live. They're all working on their manifestoes now.

This Year’s Barbenheimer Is Here. This Time, There’s No Question Who Should Win. The Wicked movie will knock your slippers off.

The big-screen adaptation of Wicked could have gone wrong in so many ways, but it sidesteps nearly every one of them with nimble direction, gorgeous production design, & a heartstopping lead performance from Cynthia Erivo (& a charming if imperfect one from Ariana Grande):

Annual Ntl Endowment for the Humanities budget: $200mill. Ntl Science Foundation: $9bill. Every US taxpayer pays SIXTY CENTS/yr to support NEH vs $27/yr to NSF. If we *doubled* NEH budget, you'd pay just over $1. The NEH funds local museums, public history & community projects in all 50 states.
