Poll Checker is predicting in the May Elections that
@greenparty.org.uk Party will be the largest party on
Kirklees Council

They also say we will win seats in 5 out of 6 wards in the Huddersfield Constituency. Labour zero Cllrs.

It is clear that only Greens can beat Reform in Huddersfield.

Kirklees Planning Committee voted by 4 to 3 to allow a modern hotel to be built on Castle Hill a scheduled ancient monument

All the speeches from members of the public were opposed to the proposal.

It was again a decision that relied on the Labour Chair's casting vote.

Labour in Kirklees are privatising 2 dementia care homes.

The private provider we were told would be a quality provider.

This same provider has had a requires improvement ruling for one of the care homes they manage.

I raised this today at the Kirklees Cabinet meeting

Govt has announced bidding for the 1st UK Town of Culture.

#Huddersfield should definitely go for it with our rich music, theatre and dance scene.

There's the opportunity to attract Arts Council and National Lottery funding.

Let's not miss out.

Newsome Ward @greenparty.org.uk Councillors in Huddersfield are running our free volunteer bus service for its 33rd year on New Year's Day.

We love doing it, helping people get about when all other scheduled bus services in West Yorkshire aren't operating.

@kirkleescouncil.bsky.social is the only Council in West Yorkshire not to benefit from the Government's Solar for Schools funding.

It was Launched in March. I asked the Labour Council Leader if she was aware of the scheme.

Apparently not!

Lovely response from local people as we have been going round for @greenparty.org.uk

With @greenparty.org.uk on our highest poll rating ever in the latest YouGov poll the projected result for Huddersfield is a Green Party Gain from Labour.

This is encouraging but a lot of work to do between now and the next General Election to make that result a reality.

@kirkleescouncil.bsky.social failed to apply for a share of £500m Warm Homes Local scheme

It would have helped local people have warmer homes

I asked the Kirklees Labour Leader why she said the Council would apply for the next funding round when there wasn't one. youtu.be/zIVjejuv0eo?...

Judge asks Kirklees Council for more information over privatisation of dementia care homes - Huddersfield Hub Campaigners took the council to a judicial review and a judge was presented with more than 900 pages of evidence

@kirkleescouncil.bsky.social shouldn't pursue any arrangements with a private care provider until the Judicial Review is completed.

The Council needs to respect the legal process that is underway.

The case for privatising the homes has not yet been made.

Lots to do in Huddersfield before that but good news in what is largely a gloomy time for people in the UK.

I was one of the @greenparty.org.uk nominees to the House of Lords in the last Parliament

I will not be seeking reselection in the Party's current process.

Instead I will focus on helping ensure Huddersfield elects a Green MP at the next General Election.

Could a Green prime minister be in the UK's future? Green Party leadership contender Ellie Chowns spoke to the Big Issue about why "eco-populism" isn't the way forward.

"The Greens are a political party whose time absolutely has come. In fact, it’s overdue."

Having won one of the biggest electoral swings in British political history last year, I know how we can win voters over!

That should have happened when Netanyahu landed on US soil.

They both know they are safe with a convicted felon sitting in the Oval Office.

London heatwave killed 263 people – with climate crisis to blame for most, study says Study finds around 1,500 of the 2,300 estimated heat deaths in Europe during recent weeks were the result of the climate crisis

Last month’s #heatwave killed hundreds in the UK – & we’re now entering the 2nd heatwave of the summer.

The climate crisis is here & now – & we need to do much more both to build resilience to its impacts & to cut the emissions that are driving it.
