They really set us up with this glimmer of hope with the last episode just to pull the rug and go back to mid. I might actually become Bullseye.

Matt and Karen? What is this dialogue? “Vengeance isn’t justice, Karen.” How many drafts did that one take guys? Truly embarrassing stuff. The Netflix show already examined these themes and conflicts with so much grace and depth just for this show to just spell out its themes every episode

without actually telling a story! Or taking the time to actually sit with the everyday people of New York. Why would we have that when we can have another scene with Mathhew Lillard’s useless character? Why are you writing a better character dynamic for fucking BB and Daniel than you are for

This show‘s politics and examination of the current climate are so paper thin it’s laughable. I’m not expecting all that much from a show like this, but ‘Resist. Rebel.’ is the best you could do? It’s all aesthetic to try and trick the audience into thinking it’s saying something meaningful

This jumps right back into the same issues that have been a plague on this show forever. Pacing is all over the place, over-the-top music cues placed over every scene, and still content to just tread the same water the Netflix show swam in, but this time we have ‘revolution’! as a set dressing

Episode 6 (it’s over)

Best episode of this new show so far, minus a distractingly terrible wig. Bridging this show with the original; letting D‘Onofrio play Wilson with a new level of vulnerabiltiy, Bullseye’s monologu, etc.

And ofc revealing Matt and Fisk are into feet and Bitcoin respectively.

And I honestly don’t think the show is bad- if it were any other character and following any other show I’d be satisfied. Unfortunately it’s following a show I probably care way too much about and I am now doomed to be a miserable contrarian freak about this one. It just really needs to slow down.

What are they even setting up Matt’s arc to be here? I couldn’t tell you. One guy tells him “you’re a symbol now.” Like he didn‘t become one in the first season. Karen? She’s learning karate or some shit idk. Have had one- i mean ONE meaningful sequence of dialogue between them. The rest is all plot

And as cathartic as the AVTF beatdowns have been I really feel like we’re trading character work for some relevant political commentary. You can do both! The original show did this! Like let Matt and Karen sit down and actually talk to each other for more than 1 scene, I am on my knees here.

Genuinely when I hear ’Daredevil is back’! I feel like i’m going insane. Like yeah the actors are still perfect and there’s a fight sequence that I think genuinely rivals the original show. But it feels like the showrunners don’t have anything new to say about these characters.

Really not as impressed as most people by the new Daredevil season. A lot of great ideas on paper that have no time to develop, with the occasional great fight sequence or ‘hype’ moment to get people talking every week.
