Life in the deep farmlands was never easy. Between the stifling of bad weathers, the pressure of taxes, and the recurring devastations brought by monsters, peasants always had to keep a close eye to the income of their household. In desperate times, supernumerary children couldn't be kept. Mothers and fathers had to resort to extreme measures to keep the rest of their family safe and fed.
The cold river runs deep through the barren land, like a blue scar across the valley. The nasty wind pushes a thick layer of fog towards you, masking the slippery stone mantle of the bridge. Water crashes in a tumultuous roar at the bottom of the cliff, carrying along pieces of dead wood and other, more unsavory, materials. You merely have to pass the bridge. A bridge that claimed countless lives. Nothing more, nothing less.

Employing the current of a conveniently forked river is perfect to facilitate the transport of raw materials and finished products, which also turns the water wheel that powers the massive saw!
You ventured far and deep into the lush forest. After a few hours however, you noticed a shift in the vegetation. It became both more vibrant... and more hostile. Trees seem to have acquired a will of their own, their branches shuffling without wind, their leaves swirling in the night fog.

Deep in the caverns, hidden from sight by a forest of giant, bio-luminescent fungi, an old, decrepit fortress was erected centuries ago by a small clan of dark elves. Originally, it was a fortified monastery. The elves are now gone. Their beliefs are forgotten. The fortress is no more…but some things linger eternal.
The particular, carmine, almost blood-like foliage of the region always puzzled scholars and scientists alike. Carmine Copse always seems frozen in stasis, an eternal autumn. Despite its unearthly, almost eerie tint, the wood hosts mostly – if not exclusively – peaceful creatures. Could this be the work of a demented angel? Perhaps an overzealous fey?

The very first trace of civilization the party saw was the ruins of the desert house. Buried shallow under the sand lie dozens of skeletons. On closer inspection, the bones are shiny, as if polished by hand.
On the dawn of the fourth day, a pearl-white royal vessel approached the town docks. You'd think that an elven royalty would travel on a man-of-war, or on at least a heavily armed galleon. This boat had four rows on each side and a small mast with a silver sail, gliding through the morning still.
