Hear me out. I don’t think Jones is good, but I do think he’s infinitely better than Kenny Pickett.

When the cast was announced, he was stunned that he got the role of Johnny Cade! He has no acting experience whatsoever, so we are very proud of him. The show opens in 2 days!

He was disappointed after auditions, because he thought they didn’t like his performance, and only had him read as a Johnny fill-in, so they could judge others auditioning for the roles he was hoping for.

In September, he went to auditions for his high school’s fall play, The Outsiders. He tried out for minor roles, but after some time he was asked to read the lines for Johnny Cade.

He was also one of a dozen or so students from his school to be selected for our county’s Honor Choir.

On his second day of choir class, his choir teacher asked him to try out for his school’s a cappella group (which he did, and made it!) The choir teacher also asked him to audition for PMEAs, which to my understanding is where top musicians in our state can perform and compete.

She told him that she wanted him to start attending cast auditions for this year. She also told him to drop the elective photography class on his schedule, and take up choir instead.
