Fifth place goes to Vector
Or rather, to "Vector 2022", the modernized version of the Vector theme, which has been used on Wikipedia for over a decade.
This new version of the classic #MediaWiki theme improved responsiveness, dark mode support, a collapsible sidebar, and more.
Fourth place goes to Timeless
Timeless features a left sidebar for navigation and a right sidebar with links to tools.
It comes bundled with #MediaWiki, so can be enabled with a single line of configuration. Naturally, it is also available on pro.wiki as the default theme for new wikis.
Third place goes to Citizen π₯
Citizen is a relatively new #MediaWiki skin, and it entered our top 3 this year.
Citizen is highly responsive and supports dark mode and switching between font sizes and layout widths. It is popular for community and game wikis.
Second place goes to Medik π₯
Medik is a solid #MediaWiki theme that is great out of the box. It provides a clean and classic look, with a sidebar on the left. Medik is an excellent mobile theme and, like Chameleon, is available on pro.wiki.
First place goes to Chameleon π
Chameleon is the most popular responsive #MediaWiki theme.
It uses the Bootstrap framework and is highly customizable, though the powerful XML configuration language does come with a learning curve.
Like all skins in this list, Chameleon is #OpenSource
