Moin! I just moved from Heidelberg to Northern Germany, close to Hamburg. Any #femalefounders, #startups, or #KMUs in the areas of #DeepTech, #AI, #Greentech, #BioTech, or #Sustainability out there who can recommend upcoming networking events in Northern Germany?

I just realised that “creating content” is much easier, when I am not at my homeoffice desk. Coffee shops, co-working spaces, trains all work better for this specific task. Brains are weird. #WritingSpace #ContentCreation #BeatingProcrastination #Solopreneur

As a startup in Germany, before you consider VC- or Angel-funding: You might be eligible for non-dilutive ZIM or KMU-innovativ funding. And also have a look into Forschungszulage. This might give you instant liquidity. Just saying... #ZIM #KMU-innovativ #Forschungszulage #funding #startup #VCfunding

As someone who also read a lot of recommendation letters: I fully agree!

Does anyone else have a "Bauchladen" (general store) problem? I have this urge to offer everything I know (UX! PM! Product Dev!). But clients just looked at me confused. I spent the past months simplifying my offer down to just one thing: Funding Support. It feels scary to niche down #solopreneur

Just wrapped up my year with the #EXISTWomen scholarship. My learnings: The money took care of my living expenses, but the community kept the doubts away. As a founder in Tech, getting that first external "Yes" often matters more than the Euro amount in the bank. Validation is the best fuel 🚀

I had this idea of "SciChecker", an AI fed with scientific publications as database that checks social media posts with medical information or advice. It rates the post according to veracity and also gives a bit of correct background information. Would you need such a tool? Let me know!

My first (very simple) visualisation of scientific data: a 3D bar chart. It's a prototype, not based on real data. And I might redo it in multicolour. For now, I designed the chart in #NomadSculpt on an iPad Pro, then exported the .stl file to Bambu Studio and printed it on my Bambu #P1S. Voilá!

My planning routine: Start with vision & values for your business ➔ each quarter, plan 1 objective with several key results (OKR), based on vision ➔ divide quarterly plan into months ➔ each week, plan admin tasks + OKR tasks ➔ Do weekly standup (What went well, what wrong & how can you improve)

Thumb with plastic ring. Outer part of the ring spins around the inner part.

In the past few weeks, I played around with my new 3D printer (@bambulabglobal.bsky.social #P1S) and tried to print some useful things from templates made by others. This “fidget ring” is helping me a lot to not pick my fingers. Next: designing my own scientific visualisations in 3D software.

Slide with abstract background saying „Transferable Skills of scientists. Experiment Planning equals Project Management plus Time Management plus Organisational Skills.

Slide with abstract background saying „Transferable Skills of scientists. Experiment Planning equals Project Management plus Time Management plus Organisational Skills.

And here is the next transferable skill set that came to my mind: Experiment Planning = Project Management + Time Management + Organisational Skills. Professions that need those skills: Project Managers & Event Managers.

I think scientists have to appreciate their "transferrable skills" more. Example: TROUBLESHOOTING an experiment = creative problem solving + resilience + persistence + detail orientation + systematic approach + high frustration tolerance.

Me in front of an autumn landscape with sunflowers and trees with turning leaves.

Today, I got reminded on how important it is to take breaks during the business day to stay focused. Going for a quick walk, a short rowing machine session, meditating, watching an episode of my favourite series, or drinking a coffee or tea while staring out of the window. #SelfEmployment

With my Bambu P1S, I created two new 3D-printed tags with NFC chips programmed to open my website or my LinkedIn profile. This time, I completely designed them by myself. Before I already used a template with NFC chip on a conference in lack of business cards. #RockSolidP1S @BambuLab #BambuLab

Chart listing my education and jobs in the upper part. In the lower part, a line is showing my happiness during each stage indicated by sad, neutral and happy smilies. The chart shows that I was happiest while I was studying biology and working as a managing director and unhappiest as a PhD student.

What is great with being self-employed is that you can align your business to your own values - and don’t have to follow somebody else’s. An important insight from an EXIST Women workshop in Munich last week: In the past, I was unhappiest when my work didn’t align with my values #EXIST #EXISTWomen

As somebody who is self-employed I wear many hats. Recently, I discovered that some of my emails end up in the spam folder of my clients. Not good. But after some research I figured out that it came from a faulty SPF/DKIM/DMARC entry in my domain settings. #learnedsomethingnew #selfemployedlife

Since I started into self-employment 6 weeks ago I tracked the time that I worked on different tasks. I used an astonishing 50% of my time for admin (initial setup of tools, bookkeeping, emails, writing offers & invoices etc.). In Q4 2025 this number has to go down significantly… #selfemployment

I just tried out 3D printing and created a relief of a plant cell. Would this be useful for people who are blind to learn about cytology?

Yay! Since 15 August I am officially self-employed.

Biggest challenges so far: German bureaucracy.

Next: Creating high-quality content.

I recently tried out Veo AI to generate a video clip of an otter brewing beer (it‘s a German otter, obviously).

I wonder if this AI tool could also be used to explain complex scientific concepts in a more visual way.

I will give this a try in the coming days!

Train rides = focus time

No better way to spend a train ride than reading „Building Science Graphics“ by @jenchristiansen.com.

A great resource for anyone serious about visualising science clearly, creatively, and with purpose.
