Once I saw this meme format I couldn't resist making a version about video editing 🤪

Sorry if you need to use the pavement for a buggy or a wheelchair or just don't want to be filmed without consent but a bunch of fucking shite "robots" controlled by people paid fuck all in other countries have to be all over the pavement now so that people can snacks delivered to their front door.
The pope is composing note-perfect lore text for "Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri". Easy to imagine this narrated by Pravin Lal or Sheng-Ji Yang.
Palantir are about six months away from ordering their employees to leave audio logs scattered around their offices
Fist bump to anyone else caught between the need to bow down & accept the dire, broken reality of the attention economy to continue surviving via their creativity & a desire to disconnect which becomes more vast, and more potentially vital to their sense of inner peace, with every year that passes.
BAFTA justify their involvement in games by constantly arguing they're not mainstream culture yet.
France has a dedicated video games academy, set up by the union. Membership is free. Absolum won the design award this year. I don't think they even submitted to BAFTA.

Ian Watson holding a book behind a plant pot
Tremendously sorry to hear of the death of the great Ian Watson, a mischievous, indefatigable man who wrote so many books, worked with Kubrick on AI: Artificial Intelligence, created the first Warhammer novels, and never failed to brighten every bar he was in. I'll miss him.
It's not just that Orbán losing inspires hope in other competitive-autocratic countries ruled by right-wing nationalist authoritarians. It's that his loss materially changes things in those other countries, because he's been operating as a headquarters and funding source...
Hah. Beginners mind is invaluable. Youtube is where it dies. Maybe?
Come in, take a seat, make yourself at home. We've been waiting for you...
Wow, I lusted after a sidstation. Probably worth a bomb now!

@arielwaldman.com's “Life Unearthed” series premieres tomorrow on PBS (check local listings), the PBS app, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime Video. So proud of this filmmaker and her important #sciencecomm work. I was the supervising sound editor. Further info in comments.
Polymarkets betting on war. Insider trading and stock manipulations inside Capital Hill. Job losses at companies with record profits. These are different games being played at a different scale and trying to frame the behaviour of CEO's within the bounds of what we consider normal is an error.
can think of at least 50 artists who, if you gave them each even like 100 thousand dollars, it would absolutely change the culture we live in for the better. 5 million is pocket change in the scheme of things. but we have to live in a world where all of that capital is wasted on bullshit like this.
It is *fascinating* to me how quickly some people have gone completely from “we all must work in the office! human collaboration is vital and only happens in person!” to “I can replace all these pesky people with chatbots!” Definitely some commentary there about our society and who gets to choose.
Just realised precisely how little I can be bothered to post online anymore.
Meredith saying something I’ve spent a lot of the last couple years thinking about:
Yeah, do it! Also that would subtly communicate that the item isn't very useful.
Inventory size in Shadows is v. limited which generally means if a person picks-up something useless they soon discard it or store it in the environment in favour of something more obviously important to them.
I have to assume massive deregulation is to blame, but why is it suddenly game companies are allowed to use professionals to make a game, then can them all and keep the profits entirely to themselves?
Depends on function/intent. Can be good for verisimilitude /narrative and subtle world-building. What are the game systems? Trash in Shadows which added moments beyond our expectation: throwing an apple core at someone just because it's funny or an NPC complaining about a litered croque monsieur.
Oh yeah, GDC.

Is the way that LLMs are being deployed simply a reflection of the methodology of Tech Bosses at the highest level?
"Give an impression. It doesn't matter whether you do your job well or not, just produce what appears to be work, then cash out before the consequences come back to bite you!"

We don’t talk enough about how morally depraved the tech industry turned out to be. Every single ounce of their self-regarding statements of values was an outright lie.

Mr Blobby is a bad guy who is fun to watch.
Felt cute. Might delete later. etc.
Yup. I feel like the people who peddle it often make the most uninspired, middle-of-the-road, shit imaginable. Ditto music advice on youtube: "Just copy an arrangement from a song you like".
They commodify the art, commodify its creation and commodify the audience.
why do ALL vibecoded plugins websites have the fucking AI squares lmfaoooo
The House of Lords Digital & Communications Committee just published their report on AI, copyright & the creative industries, and their conclusions could not be clearer.
