The Prime Minister knew of Mandelson's friendship with Epstein but chose to appoint him anyway.
As @elliechowns.bsky.social said yesterday: "What is unforgiveable is that he was more concerned with pandering to Donald Trump than with standing with the victims and survivors."
He must resign.

Time and time again we hear govt ministers condemn Israel's flagrant breaches of international law but take no real action. This is simply not enough.
Ban settlement trade, stop all arms sales to and military cooperation with Israel, and pursue investigations into war crimes.
Quite. And if a foreign adversary controlled public health policy, what would they do differently?
It's possible the Secretary of War Crimes missed the point that this is supposed to be a ruse, not a real act of self harm.
The Strait of Hormuz crisis hit South Korea harder than most expected. It also exposed a gap at the heart of one of America's most important alliances.
Trump not only “got” a photo-op with Kim Jong-un, in return he suspended US-South Korea military exercises—something North Korea and China long wanted—and started acting like the star employee of Kim’s PR team.
Diplomacy takes work to succeed. At least when it comes to advancing national interest.
Reminder that analysts thought there was a deal to be struck with North Korea in 2017-2018, not to denuclearize (they won't), but to count/verify nukes, stabilize situation. Trump didn't order any diplomatic work for that and instead did a photo op with Kim.
His diplomacy and his deals are fake.
Agreed. This is a very important piece, not only for what it explains about just war theory, but also for what it says about the jus ad bellum.
Oh, and by the way, the Iran War is obviously unconstitutional, too.
This is an elegant, learned explanation of Just War Theory and the Iran war.
An important corrective arising out of the Trump administration's responses to the Catholic Church.

In light of criticism of the Pope, my thoughts on the Just War Doctrine and whether the US operations comply.
Great to be back in Bacton with Cllr Andrew Stringer earlier this month. The Greens have a strong track record of delivering on the council, and with more councillors, we can do even more for people in the community.
As someone who’s been calling for the price of electricity to be decoupled from the high price of gas since 2022, I’m relieved to hear that the Energy Sec is looking to address this. But this announcement deserves two cheers, not a full-throated three 🧵

A month on and the Prime Minister is fighting for his survival on a technicality.
But the serious moral failure of appointing Mandelson - despite all that was known back then - was already a resigning issue.
The PM says it is "unforgivable" that he was not informed about Mandelson failing vetting.
It is Starmer's clear lack of judgement and disregard for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein which is unforgivable. The PM must take responsibility and resign.
Keir Starmer told us he would be the Prime Minister who restored trust in politics, not the one to leave ministerial ethics in tatters.
No more buck passing and scapegoating, If the Prime Minister has any integrity at all, he must go.
This would be an absolutely vile thing to do. We are so much better than this. Please don’t ever vote for Reform!
Learn whatever you want about "law," it doesn't matter because GOP Justices blew up the entire process of deciding cases based on chats with rich friends and stuff they watched on TV. That was the entire basis on which SCOTUS switched to the shadow docket.
Six years of being ignored.
Yesterday that changed...

It's clear we need to go much further to combat the corrosive impacts of huge political donations on UK politics.
That means banning crypto donations, yes - but also introducing a cap on individual donations, greater transparency on campaign donations and spending, and more.
BREAKING: “That I wasn’t told that he (Mandelson) had failed security vetting when I was telling Parliament that due process had been followed is unforgivable. Not only was I not told, no minister was told” - Keir Starmer
Absolutely staggering
Keir Starmer has lied and lied again over his decision to appoint Peter Mandelson. He must resign.
Outrageous if true that senior government officials are considering whether to withhold documents from Parliament that show Mandelson wasn't given security clearance.
The public needs the truth.
“Bush at least tried to cloak his administration’s use of torture in legal sophistry, a backhanded testament to the strength of the norms his aides sought to circumvent.”
"Trump is unique among US presidents in the extent of his willingness to discard the law of war.”
"If the 25th amendment can’t be implemented, our only chance of Making America Sane Again may be an extraterrestrial intervention."
"Aliens, if you’re reading this: please come visit the US! We’ll give you a nice cold can of cancer-busting soda and take you straight to our leader."
Absolutely scandalous - the Foreign Office reportedly granted Mandelson clearance to act as Ambassador despite him failing security vetting.
Both the PM and then-Foreign Sec David Lammy must urgently explain how this decision was made and the extent of their involvement in it.
It’s a telling indicator of media desensitization that the US government’s ongoing program of murder on the high seas—which according to the perpetrators has killed fourteen (14) people this week— is no longer a subject for much serious or sustained news coverage.
an underrated, unforgivable belief that remains prevalent among pols and normies is that a rising tide lifts all boats when it’s been clear forever that a rising tide simply drowns the people on low lying land
Absolutely outrageous. Oil and gas giants have raked in billions in unearned profits in the first month of Trump and Netanyahu's illegal war - all while ordinary families across the country struggle to cope with rising energy costs.
