Oh wow. Haven't plated that in years. Rushes off to put Steeltown on. Spookily, first band I ever saw live was Duran Duran in 1983 followed by Big Country in 1984 Steeltown tour. That'll be Sunday taken care of on an 80's nostalgia trip.

Is it the same ship he sent to Greenland with medical supplies?
Picture of me as a 7 year old stood on the running board of LMS Black 5 locomotive number 44871. On the right, me as a 57 year old stood in the same position of the same loco.
Age 7 and Dad took me to a railway museum. 50 years later and I now manage a rail depot.
Loved all his books and still regularly re-read them.

Despite PIK being my local airport at the time (Lived in Ayr 30 years), I only ever used the airport once. That was also on a Stanstead - Prestwick trip back in 1987 on the as new - but sadly short lived - Highland Express.
In the early 90s we had Hydrocyanic tanks running and the crew carried special medical boxes. Curiosity got the better of me one day and I opened one. There was just a note inside for the emergency services to advise that the crew had been exposed to HCN and that basically they were now dead!
Saved those two stories on my PC and often re-read them.
You don't see many advent calendars these days.
I think their days are numbered.
How a photo can become an instant tele-porting machine. I woke up to that view every day for two years when I was living in Warsaw.

Stopped working once people applied the Principal of Parsimony.

Ah, the bothy on the North Queensferry side. Had a welcome brew in there along with a Tunnocks teacake during the Barnado's charity bridge climb.
Thanks for posting this. Have seen dozens of films & documentaries and read loads of articles about 9/11 over the past 24 years. However, this is the first time I have come across this and something I had never considered until now, just how the people got off Manhattan.

You know, this made me think. It must be YEARS since I actually sat and read a book. Shameful. But I really enjoyed that and would like to read more. (Mike - a Railwayman)
Yup, can't think of any other sport where things like that are marked by fans. Not just the major events, but the local tragedies of a young fan passing that unites rival supporters. This was at Crewe on Saturday:

LMS 4-6-0 Stainer Class 5 locomotive number 45212, on 1Z16 Cardiff to Pembroke Dock. Day 2 of the Great Britain XVII railtour. Landore Junction.
Quiet day at work, so a little walk down the yard to watch Stanier Black 5 number 45212 go by on day 2 of the Great Britain XVII railtour.
Should be a square slice and some haggis vice the black pudding. Can't beat a tattie scone though.
Swansea local lines tonight and it arrives back in Landore at 04:11. It's here all week with UTU3 covering South West Wales. The NMT is also on its way in tonight so a busy little evening.
That's sat outside my window right now. I'll be dispatching it tonight on 3Q78

World Book Day shouldn't be about parents buying expensive costumes for their kids and trying to out-do each other. The focus should be on books and reading. Start 'em young as I do with my grandkids. #BookDay #Grandkids #Teaching #Reading
Oh, Thanks for that. I'd forgotten all about that website. Kettle on, and no work getting done for the next few hours now.
