Trump's trans healthcare ban is affecting Americans in Canada • Celeste Trianon U.S. international students studying at McGill now need to contend with the fact that if they are transgender, they can't get trans-specific healthcare on campus until they turn 19.

SCOOP: McGill University's on-campus doctors are now refusing to prescribe hormones to trans youth and adults under age 19... if they're U.S. citizens.

They claim liability issues, but this isn't the first time U.S. EOs have interfered with Canadian doctors.

Ford skirts public consultation on freedom of information bill On Thursday, government House leader Steve Clark revealed that Bill 97, the Plan to Protect Ontario Act, would bypass the traditional public consultation process and go straight to third reading and f...

The current FOI act allows the public to request government records — and has compelled the province to disclose documents revealing the Greenbelt land scandal, the Skills Development Fund controversy and others.

The changes would restrict access to those kinds of records.

This week had BBC headlines on migrants "faking" being both LGBTQ+ and survivors of domestic violence.

The stories were poorly-reported, the opposite of trauma-informed, and had sensationalized headlines.

I am floored and deeply unsettled to see some colleagues see them as a positive.

Police didn’t believe a 12-year-old who said she'd been raped. Then she hit record. “If I didn’t find the evidence for them, I wasn’t too sure they would find it.”

As Mother Jones originally reported, Taylor Cadle was 12 years old in 2016 when she told a sheriff’s deputy that she had been sexually abused by her adoptive father, Henry Cadle.

Instead of arresting the abuser, Deputy Melissa Turnage charged Taylor with filing a false police report.

« Et puisque nous sommes dans une époque où la propagande écrase l’information, ils sont nombreux à y croire, sans trop s’intéresser aux faits ».

Je peux pas croire qu’il n’ait pas ri en écrivant ça.

Critical Atlantic current significantly more likely to collapse than thought Scientists say finding is ‘very concerning’ as collapse would be catastrophic for Europe, Africa and the Americas

Government inaction isn't surprising as such but wild that I don't think I've heard any leading politicians even acknowledge the AMOC stuff? All well and good setting ephemeral net-zero targets decades in the future but actually staving off approaching societal collapse would also be nice.

I wrote about how Hungary's election creates breathing room for the LGBTQ community but not liberation. The next few years will require substantial work to undo the harms of 16 years of Orbán's systematic targeting of the LGBTQ community.
