The reason why, is that we are already running out of time to slow down global warming. We shouldn’t be making risky bets with maybe limited payoff, if we have better bets.

But this is the important point:

We already know how to, and can do this for renewables!

I believe we should follow the path we know exists, instead of following a more expensive and unsure one.

If you blockade fossil fuels you immediately have higher energy prices.

In a renewable future, blockading renewable materials / shipments wouldn’t directly affect energy prices as the deployed renewables keep producing energy.

It would be a long term issue not a short term one.

This is why my second point is important. We don’t burn renewables. This means we can recycle them when they degrade after ~20 years.

We don’t lose those resources, but can re-use them. Once we have enough coverage + recycling plants and a stock pile, we could be as good as 100% energy independent.

This means, that once we have the extracted the resources to build them, we don’t actually lose them, but can use them over and over again, without requiring a major dependency from an outside power.

The reason you have people like Söder talking about nuclear, is that it’s nothing but a distraction from the true solution to our energy problems.

Which is rapid expansion of renewable energy and battery storage.

The great thing for I.e. solar and batteries are that they are recyclable.

I’m pretty sure we don’t mine Nuclear fuel in Germany, which again would make us dependant, just like fossil fuels currently do.

Not to speak of the fact that nuclear energy is more expensive than renewables + it takes over a decade to build the plants

Nichts soll die Industrie davon abhalten, die Menschen weiter an die Zapfsäulen zu trei-ben – und sei es, um dort dereinst sündhaft teure Biokraftstoffe zu tanken. Wenn das dann zu teuer wird, weil deutsche Hersteller viel zu lange viel zu durstige Motoren bauen durften oder weil wieder mal ein internationaler Kon-flikt die Spritzufuhr drosselt, dann spendiert die Gemeinschaft der Steuerzahler einen Tan-krabatt. Wer findet den Fehler?
