had dinner with my (Dominican) ex-girlfriend's cousin and her cousin's husband once; he kept teasing her over the course of the night, and each time she made the same face at him that AOC's giving RFK here. I understand it to mean "not even death will save you from me."

I’ll grant you that Boston did not get a screening of THE MUMMY, so I don’t have high hopes here, but still: what the fuck are people talking about.
I am once again asking people complaining about the absence of slapstick in Lee Cronin’s EVIL DEAD RISE to watch the very first EVIL DEAD movie, which I assure you all is not the sort of spook-a-blast horror comedy that became synonymous with Sam Raimi’s name over time.
[Me trying to interact with real-world humans when Bluesky is down]: how are the real live persons you are related to and ha ha how about that sexual predator
I wish I still covered the beer industry; even if we’re only talking about one spot dropped in the rankings, and even if it’s been a long time coming, BBC going to #3 is kind of a profound development.
Probably not professionally beneficial for me to say so out loud, but I am incandescently pissed not to have covered either OBEX or ERUPCJA, two of the year's best films. (There's hope at least for the latter, though I'm sure to get black flagged at the last lap).
Smooth crotch necessitated, even
I firmly believe Clavicular was not born, but rather is the unfortunate outcome of science gone wrong - an incident involving an intrinsic field subtractor, a Ken doll, and a water damaged issue of TIGER BEAT
Years ago, a writer friend was passing through on tour. I didn't know him that well, but I liked what I knew of him - and when he suggested that I join him (and the other writer touring with them) to hang and sign stock, I said "Sure, let's do it." So the three of us spent a day doing that. (1)
(sometimes a stupid meme is the only tool I have for expressing my disgust at human foolishnes)
Changed my mind, I love it here, I think I’ll stay around for awhile longer
Orban gonna have to change his first name.
perfect screen grab from a perfect movie for representing an instance totally fucked geopolitical bed-shitting
I’m not totally sure what Roberts is wrestling with here in terms of theme or subtext; “man really don’t know shit about nature“ is a well-tread trope, but I can’t tell what he’s connecting it with besides the trope itself. But: I don’t really care, the movie is taut, vicious, and well performed.
Serious notes: this starts out strong with a kill that reinforces a) the power of practical FX in horror, and b) the power of performance in a kill. Rob Delaney helps make that ten seconds of violence utterly indelible. Rewound about half as many times just because of him.
PRIMATE: ***1/2. As a father and an old man, I watch a film like this and think, "Damn, those dead teens' parents are gonna have a solid lawsuit on their hands against the guy who thought keeping a chimp as a pet was a good move."
Prayer hands, let’s go
Also adds several notches under the "Zohran" column in my ongoing "who is cooler" contest, where is competition is Mira Nair. He's catching up!
I can't overstate what a pick-me-up this is in a jam-packed week of bad beat after bad beat. Grinning from ear to ear over here.
The smile on my face seeing this. Good things can still happen in the world!

I have this sense from reading negative reviews of THE DRAMA that the folks who don’t like it *did* like DREAM SCENARIO, but also didn‘t see SICK OF MYSELF, which is the better film of the two.
There are innumerably many reasons why any exchange of nuclear weapons is horrifying to contemplate. But I want to dispel rumors that newer science suggests that large-scale consequences would be much less severe than perceived during Cold War era. That simply isn't the case.
Elite move: don’t pay your taxes!
…that thumping sound you’re hearing is the IRS at my door.
I remember more than once arguing with my ex about AOC’s character and qualifications as an elected official - she though AOC was too stereotypically “millennial” - and these days I feel vindicated for having a better and more correct opinion on this incredibly courageous leader.
A lot of discourse is about telling us how we are doing it wrong when, politically, you ain’t got the answer either, bro.
