the thing i don't like about "batteries included" software is it tends to prefer shoving the author's opinions down my throat rather than letting me configure stuff

i'm not used to the rules, i just use type coercion approximately 0% of the time

if they aren't using strict mode in 2024, you should probably hard fork anyways because that maintainer is long gone

they added 'strict mode' in 2009 which disallows this
