I thought the same thing when rented recently. I have a Chevy Bolt & had to rent a car, & didn’t want a non-EV.
Got a Tesla. It was the worst driving experience ever. Actively hostile to the driver.
I love tech, love EVs, HATED that car.

Then there is the double-whammy of users refreshing while applications keep retrying.
Retries start to look exactly like attacks.

I can’t speak for Maine, but here in Indiana, most HVAC folks just want to install gas. They downplay heat pumps & push back on them.

Given the lower install costs, that’s what most customers want, too.

It’s hard to get people to think long term.

@hcrichardson.bsky.social, have you ever considered making publicly accessible archives of your blog?
Releasing Kiwix ZIM files, or allowing others to create them with a Creative Commons license, would ensure your writings are accessible to future historians.

It’s hard to understate this one, when you also include the chilling effects that come from it.

I’m late GenX. I literally played with lead as a child.

My grandpa would smelt it, form it into weights for anchors. It was fun because it was soft metal that could be shaped into things.
I remember the grey stains on my hands after playing with it.

"The IAU’s Ramasamy Venugopal promised a decision on Carroll and Integrity in about a month, the norm “for straightforward requests.”

My recollection is that they requested the two names, rather than declaring them. I thought they were submitting a request to the IAU for that this week or next.
That said, this is the first online discourse I've read, so perhaps this point has already been discussed elsewhere.

So many things that are needed for me to read this from my smartphone only exist because of going to space.

ELECTIONS ARE CHOICES NOT ENDORSEMENTS

Yup, it will happen the second that they’re convinced it will help them stay in power.
It’s the only thing that matters to them.

I learned this at my first comic book convention “artist alley” where tables were filled with people more talented than many of the big names.

The only thing they lacked was either luck or connections, but certainly not talent.

Exactly, and “AI” isn’t intelligence, either.

It doesn’t think, it doesn’t feel, and it isn’t self-aware.

It’s a content generator, a progression of spellcheck, and just as effective.

I love that spellcheck didn’t correct “it” when I meant “is”.

Sure, spellcheck is a form of AI. So it auto focus on a camera.
I remember when it was called “fuzzy logic”.

But none of those are LLMs, which makes for a big difference.

This Trans Day of Visibility, let’s remember trans folks are just humans wanting to exist. Trans men are men. Trans women are women. And they should have the same rights, freedoms, and access to healthcare as anyone else. Bigotry has no place here. If you disagree, please go away. 🏳️‍⚧️

Noooope. Not even going to try. My lane is WAY over yonder.

I’ll just like & reshare the jokes from trans people I follow.

So these laws are also thrown out? We can’t control speech, after all.

The Republicans running ads in Louisville to take McConnell’s seat in Senate are basically saying how racist they are & that the other man isn’t racist enough.

Both spending truckloads of money betting that the Republican voters want the most racist candidate.

Past evidence says it’s a safe bet.

Completely solved?

There are zero H2 filling stations less than 1000 miles from me, but quite a few EV chargers.

It’s so much easier to electrify than it is to built a H2 distribution network.

Literally the only thing I use Venmo for is paying for fitness classes from one of my best friends. If it helps her get more business, I don’t mind.
Maybe donating to some charities, too, but same thing.

So many of my neighbors live in Hoosier National Forest, and think the California-style wildfires can’t happen here.

We’re woefully unprepared east of the Mississippi.

Good time to remind everyone that DRM (via HDCP) is the cause of almost all handshake issues and does nothing to actually stop piracy.

Alvin, you’re unlikely to have success here without a profile photo & by using a Facebook link.
