How do you decide what to do when a client discloses they are involved with a proscribed organisation?
I'm really interested in finding out your views for a study that I am currently carrying out as part of my work at the University of Westminster: app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/westminste...
Thank you David. It's set up for UK practitioners (I need to be able consider responses based on their practice context). But I can definitely send you the results when they come out. I'll send you the link to sign up for updates.
I'd be really grateful if you would fill out the short anonymous survey linked to above.
Some respondents have even commented about it being a useful chance to reflect on their practice - so I hope you find it useful too...

Thanks for pointing it out @nomudnolotus.bsky.social . I checked briefly yesterday and did get a similar error but it seems to be resolved now. If not then maybe this link will work : app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/westminste...
There are two things you can do right now to support young trans people in England.
1) Engage in political advocacy and community support. I've got *loads* of advice on this in my blog post and zine "But what can I do? How to fight the trans panic".
Opinion Restoring order at the border speaks to Labour values. Without that, we won't be able to do anything else at all Shabana Mahmood Our approach, unlike that of the Greens and Reform, is in step with the British people. They don't want extremes - they want a system that is managed and fair Shabana Mahmood is the UK home secretary
This is a hot mess of outright lies and misinformation from the Home Secretary, designed to try and persuade people that a government which is implementing some of the most hostile anti-immigration/asylum policies, in practice, for decades is progressive. 1/

Call for participants! I’m interested in how therapists make complex decisions on ethical issues and what guides them.
I’d be really grateful if counsellors, psychotherapists or trainees (UK based) out there would fill out this survey: app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/westminste... #TherapistSky

The more I'm reading of this bullshit the angrier I'm getting. 10y in the UK before settlement! Quicker if you're a high earner?! Penalty for claiming benefits? WTAF. Absolute bar for any crime(protest? Homosexuality where it's criminal?). This is so punishing! Do it now. www.gov.uk/government/c...
Workers Right Centre webpage stating: Policy: Earned settlement proposals: An extraordinary betrayal of migrant communities Just days after major changes to the UK’s asylum policy landscape were announced, further details were released on the government’s plans to reform how migrants acquire settlement in the UK. While many migrants were already bracing for an increase to the qualifying period, the government’s plans in this area are far more concerning than initially envisaged.
Sooo much to do today! And have decided filling out the Home office consultation on 'earned settlement' is a priority. Only going through am I realising how repugnant and cruel the proposals are. DEADLINE IS MIDNIGHT. Amnestey have a Q by Q guide: media.amnesty.org.uk/documents/Am... Please do it!!!
Under Starmer, recognised refugees can no longer reunite with their children.
Recognised refugees.
Denied the right to reunite with their children.
It’s diabolical. Worse than anything the Tories did. & no, the racists are not & never will be satisfied.
So yes, he’s hated.
The UK government is proposing radical and punitive changes to settlement rules. This is settlement, not citizenship. The consultation is open until 12 February; please respond to it and oppose these evil proposals. Amnesty have a good guide: www.amnesty.org.uk/resources/gu...
always so funny to me when people are like “how am I supposed to explain Gay to my kids?” my kid asks me way harder shit all the time. “why did they build the road this way? why are some people bad?” I don’t know. please ask me about Gay
those with power focus on queer pain, gender dysphoria, the closet, because framing our lives as joyful and euphoric, lived on our own terms, might lead others to question the norms they accept which imprison them
Farage, who had previously said mass deportations were a "political impossibility", said his party had now come up with "a credible plan, so that we can deport hundreds of thousands of people over the five years of a Reform government". During the news conference, Farage asked Reform UK chair Zia Yusuf whether it was realistic to deport 500,000-600,000 people within the lifetime of the first Parliament under a Reform UK government, to which he replied "totally, yeah".
A sobering thought: were Nigel Farage to become Prime Minister then the terrifying scenes from Minneapolis would become terrifying scenes here.
repost of The Sameer Project X post: The occupation has issued a ban of 37 international aid organizations from operating in Gaza, which will worsen the already catastrophic humanitarian crisis in an unimaginable way. https://chuffed.org/project/113222-tent-campaign-the-sameer-project Many of these organizations focus on the distribution of food and run community kitchens that families rely on for sustenance. With the ban, it’s estimated that 77% of the population will remain at a severe level of food insecurity. This makes our food distributions absolutely necessary. On November 30, The Sameer Project provided 210 hot meals of rice in Sondos Camp in Khan Younis. The distribution cost $1,053 including 9% bank commission and 15% cash commission. Every meal feeds 2-3 individuals, and with this impending ban, every meal counts. Donate to the South Campaign to help us support families in encampments in need https://chuffed.org/project/113222-tent-campaign-the-sameer-project Other ways to donate include: http://paypal.me/mahertali (Paypal option, please make sure to add a message saying "South aid") https://account.venmo.com/u/Maher-Ali (Venmo option, please make sure to add a message saying "South aid")
look... the entity has banned 37 intl aid orgs from operating in Gaza. as the post explains, since these orgs distribute a lot of food, the population will remain at severe food insecurity.
it's all the more important to support mutual aid orgs like Sameer now, as they do their own food distros.
Let's choose kindness in 2026.

Except they don't seem to be talking about lowering sentences... And if we just look at costs savings we ignore e.g. issues like the lack of diversity, on most measures including class, amongst magistrates and judges
This sounds great! Sorry to have missed it... How was it?
The main issue facing any UK government isn't actually the number of people seeking asylum, in the grand scheme, proportionally, we aren't talking about huge figures, especially when compared per capita to countries such as France, but the constant images we see in the media. 1/
When a week feels like years,
Take a mindful breath.
Feel the earth under your feet.
Be where you are.
As you breathe in, say to yourself, I know that I am breathing in.
As you breathe out, say to yourself, I know that I am breathing out.
Repeat as needed. And it will be needed repeatedly.
Long ago, a stone felt a tingle on its skin. Moss.
A new feeling. A green feeling.
The granite spoke of ages in the heat of deep Earth.
The moss sang the taste of sunlight and the softness of salamander bellies.
They named one another. And told those names to no one at all.
Instructions for living a life.
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.
