Alex said Paul Atreides is just like Chirico as a joke in reference to the great ruse in the ending episodes of VOTOMS. That was enjoyable as well.
These movies leave no room to breathe. Dialogue may be faithful to the source material, but stiff. Performances are OKAY.
Javier Bardem is only enjoyable through ridicule because it's hilarious to think that he's getting away with doing straight-up MENA-face on top of the religious fanatic thing.
it doesn't pose anything interesting. He's faking, it's real, no it's real, no we don't know anymore, but why does that matter.
This guy's a symbol for military tactic and conquest and permissive colonialism, ah whatever who cares.
Dune part one: nothing's happening, something's happening but nothings happening. It means nothing to me.
Dune part two: something's happening, nothing's happening, but something's happening. It still means nothing to me.
the game... is good........
This looks very good. I think it would be worth the effort to make it. at least once.....................................

when i look into the past, i see dishonor and hatred.
when i look into the future, i am free from the corruption.
how glorious it is.....a world without you!

you got it.... which you think is right is up to you in the end....
thank god i found it again
None of this is to say I'm a super hardcore GitS fan, or that I see these discussions happening for GitS specifically. I just see this trend a lot when it comes to things that are heavily based on pre-existing media. In this case, I feel it's different from something just being adapted imo.
Let's all just calm down and let people be wrong through ignorance, and be open to learning... and gaining new lenses of perspective... they'll get it eventually... hopefully.....
Maybe we gatekeep in the wrong ways that gives no space for new fans to not know things and just chat their own shit. That, combined with people who are "fans" feel a need to do some version of "um actually" to people where you can see it's literally their first day out here making spaces combative.
I guess in the end I'm curious about how this trend of building up nostalgia in people who never experienced the original thing ends up being validated by people internally. If my vibe reading is correct, why would someone REALLY care about being seen as a "real fan" for something they've never seen
I know this is me chatting some shit but I am wondering what people think of it so far or even just the idea of this conceptual nostalgia shit so I'm tagging the repost to see if it gets seen.

trying to look like a fat and alive version of the crypt keeper
Something just feels off, and I don't know if my private nitpicking over some of the stills or animation examples is me picking up on details that are causing the feeling, or post-hoc rationalization, so I won't bother to go over them.
I was only thinking of this because the last two trailers I've seen just kinda looked like nothing special other than seeing the characters look the way they do.
And because fake nostalgia has been in my mind when me and Alex talk about Resident Evil.
My only problem with the idea of this is that it probably leads to more dishonest opinions to be formed about the new media motivated via thoughts like "I guess it was okay on it's own, but I might not be a true fan if I don't like this so I'll say I loved it"
But the praise will be sung by "newgens" because the era of media we've been trapped in needs to capture "conceptual" nostalgia too. As if praising the new media expresses a respect for the original unseen media that's being referenced/remade, therefore making them a "true fan"
tbh I'm predicting the new GitS anime is gonna be super mid but it will get high praise regardless because it's visually styled closer to the original manga than any GitS anime adaptation we've seen (afaik). I might be okay with that thinking for people who've read that manga.
We see this is possible with apps that have built in browsers.
Hmmm.... I wonder why that feature exists primarily on ads... Could it be that making content on external sites/apps more accessible helps them increase their ad cost???? No! Surely it's just to give us a smoother experience!!!!
Too many platforms are just okay with algorithm coercion to suppress posts that take a user off-platform rather than allowing a user to view the content they want to see that was already posted on another platform, and provide a smoother way to return.
I think it kills creator growth too.
We should be forcing meaningful integrations between platforms to build a truly connected internet that feels more seamless. Make it so "playing nice with each other" is what gets your platform used/seen instead of locking your shit off for fear of association/losing audience.
Sometimes stuff gets posted from less accessible platforms like telegram where there is a journalistic quality to reposting videos like protests, on the ground conflicts, etc. but if you're stealing a funny cat video or a regurgitation of a contrived opinion, I'm not interested.
I think I'm going to start blocking profiles on most platforms that repost content they don't own that was ripped from other platforms.
Reposting content you don't own from other sites to social media platforms is what's enabling this whole complacent consolidation onto unified platforms.
More to come maybe this or next weekend. I got stuff to do before then for Easter so who knows.
