Every time a man kills his family I am reminded how little this country cares about children. Not here, and certainly not overseas, where we're bombing schools or supporting other regimes that also bomb schools and traumatize while generations en masse

Check your city budget and you will likely be shocked. By budget, most American cities are basically giant police departments with a library, street maintenance and parks barely hanging on like three starving lampreys on a giant shark

Much appreciated and I’m sorry to hear you experienced similar. I think it was a unique case- he was a rape prevention scholar, after all. It makes me hopeful to see reporting changing.

I appreciate this. It was upsetting at the time. This year, our lawsuit was dropped, after we nearly had to pay a fine to the professor (we had a conservative judge). The prof was eventually fired and stripped of tenure in like 2020 I believe (thx to the faculty senate).

I remember you writing an article for The Daily Beast about my professor who assaulted my colleague. You quoted him extensively but never contacted any of the six of us students for comment. And you never responded on Twitter when we reached out. What changed for you?

Do I find the spectacle of the Vatican beefing with American adult catholic converts very interesting? Yes.

Will it make me reconsider reviving my lapsed Catholicism? Absolutely no.

Let me say this plainly: Iranian children have as much of a right to live and thrive as American children.

Their babies MUST be as precious to me as my 6 niblings and my baby grandnib are IF I want them to have a future.

If I want a future for my kin AND humanity, I MUST act like it.

So must you.

This NYT article focuses on the theatrics of a judge tossing a DOJ official from his courtroom for speaking without permission, but the transcript reveals much worse govt wrongdoing:

DOJ cut a plea deal w/ a child sex abuse material (CSAM) defendant before the FBI finished searching his devices ...

Pie chart showing that almost 88,000 people are confined for immigration reasons in the U.S.

Between 2025 and 2026, the number of people detained by ICE on any given day grew by nearly 60%.

Thanks to Trump's deportation agenda, expanded immigration detention accounts for almost all of the growth in mass incarceration since last year.

States Are Using Policies From The 1600s To Punish Women For Miscarriages Even the strongest anti-abortion advocates don't want to punish people for pregnancy loss. Police and prosecutors are finding ways to do it anyway.

Letter From Minnesota: Echoes of the Other Occupation The point of an occupation is you don’t choose when it happens. They descend upon you at their convenience. On day fifty-four I watch an almost-live stream of someone getting shot dead by federal a…

For context, organizers in Springfield have asked for support via donations and that no one travel there even to act as observers, and that anyone who lives/works in town should attend a training on how to protect neighbors and interact with ICE.

See the post about DIFA if you're in Dayton.

arguably, it had a lot to do with training, as in, this is what they are trained to do. however the idea this was a *lack* of training is laughable and any Dem who floats it as a solution should be laughed at.
