Hegseth Borrows Violent Prayer from ‘Pulp Fiction’ to Bless Iran War at April Pentagon Worship Service For the second month in a row, Pete Hegseth, who likes to call himself “secretary of war,” read a violent prayer — that echoes a scene in the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction — during a worship ser...

what’s funny about this is that tarantino wrote this “ezekiel 25:17“ for the film. it isn‘t actually in the bible. publicwitness.wordandway.org/p/hegseth-bo...

Tony McQuail and NDP leadership candidates at a microphone

The Liberals voted against proportional representation and electoral reform at their Convention today.

A few weeks ago at the @ndp.ca Convention, all five leadership candidates stood together to help us pass a resolution supporting proportional representation.

Things that help calm the nervous system, quickly:

- Box breathing (in for 4, hold for 4, out for 4, hold for 4, repeat)
- Immerse your face in cold water (activates mammalian dive reflex)
- Humming (stimulates vagus nerve)
- Exercise (anything helps, outside even better)
- Impeachment and removal

Canada was late to call out the Rwandan genocide too. Just ask Roméo Dallaire.

What's stopping them from literally chaining themselves to the entrance until it's called back? If this isn't a moment that calls for extreme action, then nothing is.

They’re futile until they’re not. Nothing will change without effort, as much and as often as required. Literally look around the world for inspiration.

Tens of thousands of Iranians did the same in January, and thousands died or were imprisoned. Americans really don't understand the meaning of sacrificing for higher ideals.

Mr. Trump, seemingly emboldened by the successful U.S. rescue of an American airman in Iran over the weekend, issued a new ultimatum to Iran to end its chokehold over the Strait of Hormuz, a major Persian Gulf waterway for the transport of oil and gas, by Apr. 6.
If Iran's government did not, he said, U.S. forces would target the country's energy infrastructure, which supplies power for millions of civilians.
"Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!" Mr.
Trump wrote on social media. The president has previously postponed his deadline to attack twice and the Omani foreign ministry said officials had discussed how to reopen the Strait of Hormuz with Iranian counterparts without reaching a definitive agreement.
"Praise be to Allah," he added, before signing off in all caps.

The @nytimes.com literally rewrote Trump’s post by removing the obscenities and chose not to note that attacking civilian infrastructure is a war crime:

I'm a bit of a broken record on this, but usurping the power of the purse isn't just one constitutional violation among all the many others. It is, uniquely and singularly, the death of constitutional government altogether. Game over, end of story, you now live in an autocracy.

I am sickened by the NYT and others normalizing Trump’s threat to bomb Iranians “back to the Stone Ages” as simply a sign of a possible “expansion” of the war. It’s a barbaric statement, promising horrific war crimes. Everyone should be appalled.

From Bloomberg: “The world’s most important price for real-world oil barrels surged above $140 on Thursday, the highest since 2008.
Dated Brent, the price of shipments bought and sold in the North Sea, reached $141.37, surpassing levels seen when Russia invaded Ukraine.”

It seems we just bombed some residential buildings in an attempt to kill a former diplomat who was trying to facilitate negotiations.

A civilian trying to *end* hostilities, surrounded by other civilians in their homes.

We are completely lost.

I'm not sure there's a single trait in rulers that is more universally criticized in the canon of western political thought that susceptibility to flattery.

The favorite president of west coast Straussians and various other avowed Western Civilization Defenders *brags* about it.

In Doug Ford's Ontario not paying your $6 GO Transit fare is a $200-500 fine but doing 80 km/hr in front of a school is for all practical purposes free & legal.
