Btw - the Python open source applied metrics tooling is growing rapidly. We now have:
- PyFixest for HDFE regressions (github.com/py-econometr...)
- marginaleffects for marginal effects (github.com/vincentarelb...)
- maketables for regression tables (github.com/py-econometr...)
Does rhetorical othering affect the identity of the targeted minority?
@teresafmonteiro.bsky.social, @hasagerlinea.bsky.social and I study exactly this in the context of Denmark's so-called Ghetto List. Using an RD design, we find that the Ghetto label triggered a cultural backlash

So happy this paper is now accepted!
New WP: “University as a Melting Pot: Long-term Effects of Internationalization”
Debates on international students often focus on capacity constraints, funding, or competition.
In the paper, I show that the main effects of internationalization on natives are not academic or economic, but social.
In an interesting turn of events, US and Danish government came up with the same to help with the affordability crisis: longer mortgages!
That has sparked some backlash. But in the US, it seems the discussion is focusing on the wrong stuff.
Well, let’s try to learn from 🇩🇰.
Excited to post a new working paper with @instrumenthull.bsky.social and Michal Kolesár: arxiv.org/abs/2511.03572
Will post a thread on it soon, but if you're interested in judge/examiner designs, I think you'll find this guide very helpful!

Do school meals work?
No: according to a new meta study by Sara Ayllón and Samuel Lad summarizing results from 42 studies.
I discuss that study in slightly more detail here: hanshenriksievertsen.substack.com/p/the-causal...

Agree. I also wonder about the additional role of video games. Lots of exposure time, no subtitles (for small languages?) and emergence at about the same time as cable TV. Take-up is probably lower and more uneven though
Update #2, RETRACTED: 15 months after we (w @ollefolke.bsky.social and @johannarickne.bsky.social ) submitted the initial comment to the Journal, we've noticed the paper was ultimately retracted. Retraction note here: link.springer.com/article/10.1...
New study: The relative wage premium for going to college has halved for low-income Americans since 1960.
What is to blame? Rising selectivity? Tuition hikes? State disinvestment? We decompose changes in the premium since 1900 to find out.

New research alert! Our study investigates the effectiveness of human-only, AI-assisted, and AI-led teams in assessing the reproducibility of quantitative social science research. We've got some surprising findings!
My personal modest take and feelings about this.
As I am now handling papers at AEJ:Policy again, I want to encourage authors of papers that identify partial equilibrium effects to consider (in a rigorous manner) how they relate to policy effects or general equilibrium effects.
