I often shy away from otherkin/therian communities do to me lacking the proper pedigree as I was not born with an innate spiritual connection to an animal. I merely cultivated my own non-human form and let it fully integrate into me.

I don't really know what I am other than "me" I guess.

I don't often share this with others because it comes across as either 1) Immature escapism. Stop playing pretend you're in your 30's

2) illegitimate or counterfeit. You cannot claim a phantom tail simply because you wanted a tail and imagined one.

These don't make it less real to me tho.

I experience it as "real" in the same way that your sense of balance is "real"
You can't see it, I can't see it either, but it's a very real part of my internal world and the internal schema of my body. It's movements are felt only in the thoughts I have of it but those thoughts are automatic.

I honestly don't know how other non-human kin experience their phantom tails/ears/etc.

My tail is not spiritual or innate. I was not born with it nor did it develop on its own.

My tail is a psychologically construction that I grew into. I don't know if this makes it less "real"
