I write about how acceptance is also an integral part of my faith.

My faith changes. Faith is not a stagnant thing. It is dynamic. It grows and develops. It doubts and it questions.

My issue with the Bible is that we as Christians have elevated it to the same level as God, without saying so out loud. That would mean I have no issues with it per se, just in its interpretation.
This is what happens when I am vocal about my orientation. This is why I need to speak up.
I appreciate that.
The offertory today was very appropriate for Halloween. It even left our pastor speechless.
I loved it!
Michael said he already had 2 episodes recorded. Will I listen to it? Probably. I will miss Mike McHargue, William Matthews, and Hillary McBride, though.
Michael Gungor just announced via Instagram Live that he might be doing the Liturgists Podcast again. As much as I loved the Liturgists, as meaningful and formative as it was to me, its demise was painful to watch, as if I were witnessing a divorce.
There is an old saying: “Never speak ill of the dead.”
Ok. James Dobson is dead. Good.
I came home to an empty apartment. My son, Gabriel, is back in Michigan and I feel so sad.
Pride Month is over and I take time to reflect. Being bisexual and a Christian often seems like an oxymoron to both the Queer and Christian community. However, this is what I am: a bisexual Christian. Defending both of those positions is normally an act of futility.
If your church has an American flag in your sanctuary, you have erected a statue of Zeus in your temple.
If your church sings patriotic songs to honor America, you are worshipping the Empire and not God.
During this #PrideMonth, I am reminded how there is no hate like Christian love.
Leading my Bible Study class on Sunday is like herding kittens.
Progressive Christianity has also become politicized and IMO is no longer about Jesus, but about standing against Trump.
I understand the need to unite against fascism. I hear little about how this relates to what Jesus taught. I hear little about spiritual practices we can do to help us during this time.
I’m weary of politics. I go to a progressive church and right now that’s what I hear: How to stand up against the fascism coming towards us.
Today was a good run.
The only way he could stop the therapy from continuing was by feigning interest in a girl at church.
Conversion therapy is harmful. It doesn’t work.
I met a young gay man two days ago who was raised in a conservative Christian home. One night he came home and told his family that he was gay. They forced him to undergo conversion therapy (a debunked therapy that tries to turn people straight).
Trying to get back in the swing of things
This week has been brutal. My cat has helped me out.
Some truth from Queer Theology : “Many LGBTQ+ Christians and straight, cisgender supporters feel an obligation to ‘stay and fight.’ But that’s not what Jesus is instructing here.”
I just feel weary defending my own existence as a bisexual man AND being a Christian!
I love how the communion cup presented in our worship image is virtually identical to the Holy Grail from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."
What I’m reading currently. It really makes me think about issues that our society faces and how to deal with those issues as Christ would.
