Oh my goodness that would have been hilarious 😂

Still waiting for @councilordanryan.bsky.social to address this.
Perhaps, as some think of the Epstein files, Ryan hopes it will just go away.
Absolutely reprehensible that AG Bondi is offering ICE stand down in exchange for access to voting rolls. Outrageous and disgusting. It shows ICE is in Minneapolis is not for law enforcement purposes. Instead it’s a way to stir up shit in blue states and extort them.
I've been thinking about how many videos I've watched that started like Renee Good's & Alex Pretti's. People pulled from cars & accused of obstruction, grabbed after filming agents, accused of punching agents, ramming cars despite video evidence. Shot.
They survived. But the arrests were brutal
What a scene. One thing we have learned about defeating fascism throughout history is that popular resistance is a necessary component.
Yes! But as any public employee who has gone through onboarding can tell you, if you conduct public business on a private device, it’s still a public record that must be preserved and is subject to disclosure (unless there is an exception). Ryan knows this, 100%.
Couldn't agree more, Michelle! When the people making decisions about our city are reading from a secret script instead of listening to the community, we have a serious problem. We need to see those texts.
Exactly. An apology for a "clumsy" interaction with the press is one thing, but ignoring the evidence of outside interests scripting your policy questions is another. District 2 deserves a direct answer.
"The Owendoff Files" has a certain ring to it. A councilor's text messages while conducting public business shouldn't be shrouded in mystery. And any public employee knows better!
Why didn't he address this in his statement? District 2 deserves a city councilor who represents us and our interests, not one who takes orders from those comfortable with the dehumanizing rhetoric revealed in these Owendoff chats. District 2 deserves transparency. Where is our apology? 4/4
From the daises, rather than engaging with serious policy on behalf of District 2 renters, he's checking his phone for positions from wealthy benefactors. How many times has he done this? We don't know. He is refusing to provide text messages in response to the Mercury's public records request. 3/4
Screenshots show conservative activist Brian Owendoff texted Ryan during a Nov 12 Council hearing with a specific unit cutoff and an anti-tenant argument. One minute later Ryan used these talking points in questions to @pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social (Councilor Morillo). He's reading from a script. 2/4
There's been a lot of talk about Dan Ryan's apology to the @portlandmercury.com last week, but he didn't follow up on what was a damning revelation from @jeremiahhayden.bsky.social's 1/13/26 article on just whose interests Councilor Ryan is serving. 1/4 www.portlandmercury.com/news/2026/01...
Then it becomes a spiral. “I pay all these taxes and for what?” —> taxes marginally increase to cover maintenance and bare minimum services —> “I pay even more taxes and they can’t even fix the sidewalk on my street” etc etc
Tax increases for half-measures that don’t make things feel better are much harder to defend than tax increases that materially improve the experience people have with government services - whether that is better parks or smoother streets. Half-measures are easier to attack and harder to defend.
Yes. Time and time again Democrats respond as if conservatives are acting in good faith when they fight a tax increase on behalf of lower and middle class families instead of recognizing these rhetorical tricks. People are more content to pay taxes if they feel like they make their lives better.
“Our communities can’t truly be safe unless law enforcement is accountable for its actions, and accountability requires transparency.” - @councilorkanal.bsky.social
ICE agent when told he's about to arrest a US citizen. Direct quote: "I DON'T CARE."

Nah they need to pay an absolute premium over valuation after the stunt they pulled with the player and his agent. You don’t get throw a tantrum and then walk out for a discount.
I was in law school when Shelby County v Holder came out. That case was enough for me and many of my classmates to start calling BS on this. Here we are 12 years later smdh
Right now, these bad actors are emboldened. BOLI will prioritize cases where workers face this type of retaliation and use every enforcement tool to make sure employers are held accountable. www.oregonlive.com/business/202...

Using the threat of calling immigration officials on workers as a form of intimidation and control is an egregious form of retaliation that has long been used by unscrupulous employers. Oregon law protects these workers.
So when he was talking about the quality of the zipper and needing to “let it hang” he’s talking about just literally whipping out 🤠😭😭
“I hate Medicaid. It’s just handouts for welfare queens. But I love [my state’s Medicaid plan]. It provides exactly what hard working people like me deserve while I am doing my best to provide for my family and get ahead in this tough economy.”
I say a lot of things are “unbelievable” that are probably not actually unbelievable. But finishing this legislative session without any transportation bill whatsoever, after preparing for it as the top priority long before the session started, that *is* unbelievable.
We need to have some conversations about what’s going on in Salem and how to move forward. There is a theme of under-resourcing children, which is a troubling sign for our future!
Republicans are not interested in governing. This has been obvious for a long time. And yet, Dems compromise and compromise (enraging their own voters and constituents) only to get the finger in the end. We need new tactics. New reps. A new party. New everything. New anything.
