But that one magical season... Imagine what it'd be like to win it

Here's a question to #nufc fans. Would you rather be Everton (won nothing this century but stable in the PL) or Leicester (with the PL but get relegated to League 1)?
But the Project, if it had moved forward, would have given us more money to give you players. They can see that our finances aren't going to change in time for them to maximise their earning when they're at their peak.
Totally agree, it just feels like this summer was meant to be the one where we had the right people in place and money to spend .
Yep. My worry is that with the world cup, most transfers won't be done until after. Guess if we were savvy we'd be looking at teams that didn't qualify like Italy to see if there's any players there
My biggest worry for #nufc this summer is that, once again, we won't get a proper preseason. With Bruno, our full defence potentially, Woltemade, Gordon, Elanga, off to the world cup we will have just month with the full squad, never mind integrating new signings.
The more I think about it, the more I think if Howe does go Mourinho would be a great choice. He's the ultimate 'us v them' manager, which NUFC could use. He speaks Portuguese to get Bruno on side, and knows how to grind out results. Do I hate him? Yes. But could he work for us? Maybe.
Honestly, looking at Leeds form and their run in and good chance they'll finish above us
Agree. Get rid of some big names that are not interested anymore. Go back to looking to be hard to beat, finishing top 8.
Yep. So many times we've had chances to get back in it, start a run, and we've just not bothered. Genuinely think they're trying not to qualify for the conference league. Either CL or no Europe
Agree. Think new goalkeeper is a top priority. Gives the defence some confidence, someone who can build from the back, someone who doesn't make mistakes
Dunno. Miley back in the side. Bruno on the bench giving them hell. Tonali given captaincy. Osula running like a mad thing up front. Could give us what we need
Think he's needed something to get his head back to NUFC. That and his recent comments suggest a campaign is under way to keep him
Once again, this feels like an important game for #NUFC. Lose this, we've got Arsenal next and will be well behind the pack. Win and we could get something from this season. But most of all, I want to see some energy and desire. That's all.
Build new stadium, improve sponsorship deals, buy new players, build strong squad. We're fine margins away from CL football every year (we hold the leads in 3 games and we'd be 1pt behind Liverpool). Did ok in CL this year (until we didn't). Don't think it's totally unachievable but maybe 2032/33?
Hmmm. As a Newcastle fan I'm trying not to read anything into this
It's not even that I'd expect Newcastle to have held on to every lead and be joint top. But Sunderland, Palace and Everton and we would be on 51 points, just behind Liverpool and pushing for CL. That little bit more composure and effort is all that is needed for a very different season
That's my worry. As much as I'm feeling a change might be good, my worry is that we'll end up in a constant rotation of managers
Think not having Bruno has been a big miss. Same with Burn and Tripps today. No one to gee is up.
Also, if Howe is to go (and it's still a big if) would it be worth doing it now. This season is over so might be worth bringing someone in earlier to give them some games before world cup to get to know players, try stuff out and start planning for the summer spend
I'd take Poch. Looking at Spurs now, you can see he did a great job with them. Iraola and Glazner maybe but again seem like managers that do well with low expectations on them. Feels like a Frank to Spurs type situation
Yep. We should have been running them into the ground. They've come from European game. We should have been full of life and energy. Just seems no one wants it
Yep. Feels that way. Don't think Tonali, Bruno, Gordon etc want the conference league.
We've had a few good streaks but we can't seem to find any sort of consistency. And I'm just getting sick of the excuses of lack of pre season, Isak, Europe, injuries.
Feels like everyone has given up on the season. Not going down, not going to get Europe (or any type of Europe players want). Some have eye on world cup (Gordon, Wolte, Botman, Hall, Livra), some on leaving (Tonali, Livra, Gordon). Howe needs to show in final games he's still got the team behind him
Yep. Looking like 2 more points dropped from winning position. And another chance lost to gain ground on the teams above us. Seems whenever we have a chance against a mid table team to get a result and start a run, we blow it
True legend.
Doing it the right way as well. Being open and honest about it and letting everyone know early. Legend
I don't think Howe has a long term, if we don't perform next season. If we miss out on Europe (so have fewer genes) and have a proper pre season, we should be pushing for top 5 again next season.
Think you're right with keepers. They need exposure consistently to build confidence. Think it's why so many seconds choice keepers are so nervy
But isn't that what we want.
