At least with parks you were outside! Malls feel like the mirror universe evil version of parks.

But they still deserve to be ranked.

I wanted a way to explore Unicode by visual similarity, not just by name or codepoint, so I built Charcutrie.

It lets you browse characters that look alike, search across scripts and symbols, and even sketch a shape to find matching glyphs. (pretty badly for now :D)

I got laid off last Monday!

Not sure yet what the next move is, in the mean time I’m just gonna chill out for a while.

No surprise but he's absolutely right about all of the vancouver spots. I cant actually point anything out in particular, they're all correct takes.

It's missing a lot of spots that I like, but I also drink alcohol and don't have a kid so we run in different circles.

I built a Github Issues -> Claude -> Automatic PR creation/merge -> Github Pages Build system with an in-website kanban board.

This lets me build features by accessing the website's admin panel and kicking off Claude tasks from anywhere.

The first version of the game was built back in September 2025 but I picked development back up at the beginning of March 2026. All of my updates since then have been supported by Claude.

To make the game, I had to collect and manage a LOT of screenshots (~864 and counting). I did this by creating a custom command line tool for automating screenshot collection via 'rcon' the source remote console.

I also built a personal CMS tool for handling the metadata of the screenshots.

I made a geoguesser style game for Deadlock! Look at screenshots from the game and try to pinpoint their location on the map.

I’ve spent lots of energy at my job trying to teach folks this same lesson through a lot of user testing!

Most of our user testing acts as a tool to help our designers understand users’ internal schema. So much of the “game design” skill is just knowing what players expect

a lot of folks around GDC at the "all chat" event at tiat last week saw me do a bite sized version of this talk about childhood memories of new age, pure moods, and how it ties into conspiracy theories & much more. anyway, reminder: you can watch the full version here www.youtube.com/watch?v=x6wg...

GDC was great!! I was so busy every day, I went to like 3 talks total but I was totally wiped by the end.

Big highlights:

Palace of Fine Arts escape room
Tiat show
Wanted (2008) watch party
EGS (shoutout Cabbibo)
Day of the devs
Post GDC deadlock LAN party
SLOG meetup
Dim sum
3 tiki bars

I have at times live-posted GDC sessions and now I’ve picked “Teaching Games with Games” where @alt254.bsky.social & @chouxsalad.bsky.social have designated this year’s 4-person panel topic as “teaching students about generative AI” without doing what S.B. describes as “cop shit” (policing AI usage)

i was daydreaming about a way to do rhythmic fingerprinting, but found it was fun on spoken word and made a little visualizer that accidentally looks like graf writing... @colormotor.bsky.social might like it :) (sample is edward murrow speaking against mccarthy-ism in 1954, fwiw)

On Sunday I spent the $20 to try out Claude for a month, I recommend giving it a shot if you haven’t. At the very least it’s good to know what it’s capable of from first hand experience.
