You're in for a treat.

I'm like 120 hours in and about to get to the epilogue.

What a ride!

Plenty have regretted using Next and anecdotally the overall sentiment seems to be quite negative.

Eg this recent post on r/webdev

I totally agree with you.

Only saying that the decision process is often not technical.

And in cutthroat environments you hear stuff like:

"Not my fault it was a bad decision! That's what everyone else is using!"

I agree and I haven't touched React since 2018 or so...

But when companies bet on a stack there are other factors like funding, maturity, and longevity.

The fact that Meta dogfoods React with billions of users is an argument I've heard many times.

That's not a hot take.

There's plenty of data linking depression, anxiety, etc with social media.

Speed doesn’t matter if you’re going in the wrong direction.

Maybe but it's easier to go solo every year.

Got a "metaframework" (as the cool kids say) working with Bun, Hono, Vite, and Vue in a matter of hours. With islands.

Did a similar thing with Node, Fastify, Webpack etc back in 2019-2020 and it took me way longer.

For the past two months I have been working hard on Ky 2 and now it's finally out.

All bugs fixed. All GitHub issues resolved. Cleaner API, stricter behavior, fewer footguns.

A mug of golden milk chai in the background, from it coming a teabag string, with the following text on the tag:

Bereu Deine Fehler nicht. Bewundere den Mut, Unbekanntes versucht zu haben.

In the foreground is the rear end of a chocolate Easter bunny.

Best advice I ever got from a teabag.

English translation:
"Don't regret your mistakes. Admire the courage to have tried the unknown."

I'm enjoying iOS26 more than I expected.

Yeah some of the liquid glass transparencies are bad but overall... I'm liking it.

Tahoe is crap though.

And given both C# and TS are maintained by the same company... is it far fetched to expect a solution that doesn't require multiple additional layers?
