I'm running some sort of cat infirmary here: a blind cat with a broken leg and a deaf cat with a bite!
You know you're spending too much time on your own when you ask your cat how long they think they are going to be inside for!
Some more good news over the weekend, our last remaining missing farm cat came home in one piece. Almost 3 weeks since the fire, we'd given up hope but Charlie is back home!
On the downside for the past 2 days the air is full of smoke from the massive fires to the west and north of us.

As I write another fire has just started in a neighbouring village, similar to where the one that destroyed our land started. It seems like the whole of northern Portugal is burning. No one can tell me this is normal.
Last night was interesting. A storm came, amazing lightning all around. Then it rained & the wind was horrific. Finally, unsurprisingly, that set off a raft of fires all around us. Luckily not too close and they were out by morning but with the wind & no aerial support it could have been worse.
I didn't expect to get any replies! Thanks, that's definitely spurred me on. 😀
I don't know about build in public, I think I might try rebuild in public! A few weeks ago, before it all happened, I was thinking about writing a blog about living here, I certainly have plenty of material now!
I've seen the damage first hand for the first time today, it's pretty heartbreaking.
Some happy news this morning, Rosie has finally come home! A bit dirty, a lot hungry but generally OK.
The aftermath, it's heartbreaking. All our lovely olive trees destroyed. Thank you to everyone who has supported us.
