I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. I never imagined that a heartfelt post about my loss would ever be seen by so many. Penny was a gift. She loved unconditionally, and brought joy and adventure into everything we did together. Life is so much sweeter with dogs. Give yours a hug.

Loving a dog comes at a price. Today I am heartbroken. Of all the families that could have gotten Penny, I am so grateful that she was ours. Nine years was not long enough, but she made the most of them. She was the best. 10/17/16 - 3/22/26.

I was naive enough to feel proud of the progress we had made. I was stunned when we elected Trump the first time. It was like a punch in the gut. I had misjudged us as a people. People weren’t who I thought they were. I hoped we learned a hard lesson. And then we did it again. Still, I hope.
