They don't see how much it's starting to weigh you down because they can only see their own pain that is self inflicted. There isn't much you can do in the situation other than ultimately walk away...

There's a build up that starts to form every argument, every disagreement, every unspoken word that goes unsaid adds to the pile and it becomes heavier and heavier to carry. They cannot see that the childhood trauma they carry into the relationship and put off on you is not fair.

Because they are avoidant nothing ever gets resolved.. they stonewall until that emotional wound feels less bruised and acts as if there wasn't an argument that ever happened. Resentment builds on both ends and nobody is clearly heard.

Being in a relationship with an emotionally wounded person is draining af. You become responsible for their triggers and reactions to what should be a normal conversation or disagreement, that in turn causes turmoil and conflict that then goes unresolved because they are avoidant... rinse and repeat
