PayPal mandatory passkey enrollment
Amazon's not doing it for me right now (maybe it was an a/b test?) but for me when i log into paypal I get this modal with no close/cancel option

It’s so weird that this is very probably caretaker abuse but none of us really care because he’s evil and none of his friends seem to be able to intervene so we have just been watching this guy slowly die in public on and off for several years.
i have a false tooth filled with a placebo in case i'm ever captured and need to be a control subject
I also fucking hate it because i hate doing biometrics for stuff. Can't make some of my senio loved ones do it either because their fingerprints are literally fading due to age so they have to cancel out every time
My assumption also is that once I link a passkey to my Amazon account I'll need that specific one to log in now and I'll get locked out when that device dies or gets lost. I don't trust random websites to handle multiple devices correctly, my password manager works fine
It's cool and healthy how the supreme Court is made up of corrupt people who are or are married to conspiracy theorists, aggrieved boomers annoyed at mild changes, and people more obsessed with civility than protecting us from the other two groups.
I have literally never seen anyone on my feed advocate for Navy funding cuts
Why the fuck is this website randomly asking for my pin or thumbprint? Do I have a virus? What happens if I give in? (PayPal doesn't even offer a way to cancel) Am I giving it access to anything by enrolling? Fuck if I know
The way passkeys are being rolled out has made me actively resentful of them. Amazon and PayPal just forcibly open an enrollment modal on page load with no explanation, like malware
This is lowkey one of the most important things happening in the Middle East rn and very few people are paying attention to it
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Crossbrace your kallax/expedit shelves in the back if you're going to store records on them vertically, because they will shear under their own weight with a gentle bump. God help you if you're using it for laserdiscs.
“The UN can’t stay silent watching what’s happening in the world. Trump invades Iran and bean prices spike in Brazil, corn prices rise in Mexico, gas prices rise elsewhere. It’s the poor who pays for recklessness of wars that nobody wants”
— Lula da Silva, president of Brazil
So there's this thing where P.N. 03, Vanquish, and Pragmata form a sort of notional trilogy, but I don't know who to tell this to because nobody played those first two games
The Israeli army struck civilians in the Lebanese city of Mayfadoun.
And then, the Israelis double-tapped the medics who arrived onto the scene.
And then, they triple-tapped the next wave of medics.
And then, they did it one more time for good measure.
Amazing that Apple's approach to anything even approaching consenting porn is "not on your life, you filthy pervert" and its approach to nonconsensual porn is, basically, "well, what can ya do"
Just a reminder that Philz's sold the company to private equity in such a way that the employees wouldn't get their employee stock payouts, and they lost all the money they invested. They got a $525 "bonus" instead. www.kqed.org/news/1205127...
keep honking! I'm taking your feedback seriously and considering next steps
Democrats planning to run in November’s midterm elections have been advised not to antagonise pro-AI campaign groups that have amassed more than $300mn to fight for the industry’s priorities. The warnings by top party consultants, corroborated by people close to four different campaigns and party strategists speaking on the condition of anonymity, come despite internal polling for Democrats showing widespread public support for tougher AI rules.
They're calling it the best democracy ever.

I've seen comments on other websites saying this is a good use of AI because typesetting is just grunt work.
No it isn't! There is a lot of skill and craft to good typesetting and this is aiming to take jobs from people to automate what should be a human process!
This sucks!
It shocks me how many businesses still don’t seem to get that Trump’s cultural revolution did not actually happen
This is structurally identical to a Da Share Z0ne post
Honestly wasn't expecting Benn's Flock Safety stuff to unearth this sort of thing
