We dated some charcoal for @timeteam.bsky.social, and it showed that the standing stone at Farley Moor was indeed Bronze Age. Lovely to see how the project came together! www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtCM...

If Trump was President in 1940
Word of the day is βhuff-snuffβ (16th century): a hectoring bully or braggart.
This is thuggery from Trump and Vance, plain and simple.
They are bullying the brave true patriot Zelensky into accepting a deal which effectively hands victory to Russia. Unless the UK and Europe step up, we are facing a betrayal of Ukraine.
Registration for the Radiocarbon Short Course will close 28/02. Come along if you would like to learn a bit more about radiocarbon as a dating technique or as a tracer, or you would like some training on OxCal; conted.ox.ac.uk/courses/shor... @unioxarchaeology.bsky.social

The thing about being a scientist, and a casual runner, is that the latter provides an opportunity to quantify the ageing process...
I.e., precisely "HOW MUCH SLOWER am I now, compared to when I was in my prime?", rather than just a qualitative feeling of "ooh, that didn't used to ache"... π€¨
Me running up a fairly steep incline, giving thumbs up to the camera guy... despite being an hour and 27 minutes in to my run.
Me, crossing the finish line in a somewhat anguished and dishevelled state!
My finish time, 1 hour 39 minutes... and one second.
Wooden half marathon medal.
A new season's best for the half marathon! π₯πββοΈ
And yes, it still counts even though it's my first race of the year! π

I don't think it's just #Archaeology...
#Academia more generally?
Society, more generally?
I've been reflecting on the Gregg Wallace stuff and been so triggered in relation to my own experiences in academia from a decade ago (ok - you win - in archaeological academia, more specifically!)... πͺ
