In Odysseus's defence (and I do spend much more time being rude about him than defending him) he did make the remaining crew swear a solemn oath on Thrinacie not to eat the cows. He takes one little break and Eurylochus has gone and persuaded them all to throw a barbecue!

To be fair Eurylochus is quite annoying, so I'd give him a pass for that one.
Tonight Nero is a little startled by ChatGPT's inability to follow instructions. Given a list of Cambridge Latin course vocabulary from stages 1-16, and a request to create Latin sentences, ChatGPT added words like 'bellum' , 'sermo', 'loquor', 'ruber' etc. Which definitely weren't on the list.
Poppaea joins me for a little Aeneid 2...
Not sure my kids would speak to me again if I did go there, though!
I was seriously tempted by this!
Deeply impressed by Chichester Cathedral's Acting Dean and his rather sweet story about his own cat!

Still not sure if Nero hates or really loves Plato...
I'm desperate to get to Pericles' Symposium. Some might say I just want to meet Alcibiades...
I'm enjoying watching my son ransack Odysseus' Palace in... Kefalonia...!?!!?
So, I was supposed to send a headshot of my younger son for an application. Apparently, I sent a scan of Eryximachus' speech from the Symposium instead. Not at all sure I know how I confused the two.
Cicisbeo. Still no idea how to pronounce it.
Half term! Tomorrow I will start revising my Love & Relationships scheme of work. But tonight, I shall eat curry from Chichester's gorgeous Massala City.
Re-watching The West Wing is so very bitter-sweet.
Once again:
WAR SHOULD NOT BE TREATED AS A SPORT IN WHICH WE WAVE OUR FLAGS AND ROOT FOR OUR TEAM.
THE ONLY WINNER IS PEACE.
Everyone and everything else loses.
Is loss.
Is lost.
It occurred to me a while ago - that most people are so worried about how they are perceived that they usually don't have time to worry about how I come over. I've taken that as licence to be outrageous.
Cambridge Latin course - good stories and doesn't go too fast.
Very happy with my 16 year old for introducing me to the band 'Beast in Black' - a mutual taste in low-brow heavy rock is a serendipitous thing.
In defence of my misspelling Arthur Miller - it was very late, I was very tired, I was writing on my phone and I'm terrible at spelling.
Arthur Millar's 'View from the Bridge' at Chichester Festival Theatre this evening. A study of American-Greek tragedy in shades of grey with a side order of homoeroticism and an unsubstantiated shiver of incestuous abuse. Themes of suffering immigrants served up to a Chichester audience. Apt.
Nero decides I have done enough work on a Saturday.
The cat's view of my marking Euryalus 10 mark questions.
