🤯didn’t realize it applied to other books. Good to know! 😍🤣
Well, with the rejection of my BBRF Young Investigator Grant application and a local foundation grant application, I am now more than halfway towards my goal of 100 rejections (54/100 to be exact)!
I learned this philosophy from @bettyslai.bsky.social (thread continues below)

So happy you are getting your work and ideas out into the world! Rejections sting, but they are a sign of hard work. Good things are coming! 💜
For some, talking (or writing) about yourself can be uncomfortable, but in this recent blog post, @bettyslai.bsky.social discusses how you can (and should) adopt a swagger mindset when writing your grant's personal statements!

NIH is likely cutting up to 25% of its workforce this week. NIH staff have substantial expertise, typically PhDs. And they really *believe* in the work. NIH's will not be able to meet its mission w/these cuts. The scientific threat is not just direct funding cuts www.statnews.com/2025/03/14/n...

The thing about scientific research is that it’s one of the few national investments that’s a clear public good even if you entirely discount the actual ostensible point of it.
I received one of the 232 NIH grant "terminations" sent to scientists at Columbia last night. My research focuses on improving maternal and child health in the US. Also affected: ongoing clinical trials, research training programs, and research centers that aim to improve the health of Americans.
And the Mellon Humanities Postdoctoral Fellowship Program with the NPS has been terminated under Trump's Executive Order. Take a look at all this amazing work while you still can.
And shout out to all the people working to find news ways to support these scholars.
