Being an adult therian and seeing children and their parents co-opt the word therian to mean "kid wearing a half-mask", and then being suspicious over adults in a "children's subculture" feels like this.

Time for some therian talk. So one of the things I'm most proud of is my participation in the creation of the Therian symbol that I see so many people using today. I've got a screenshot here from some of the original uses of it back in 2004. I was not the only one that worked on this.

I am an abuse survivor and a feminist. censoring art about abuse hurts victims ability to express themselves, find a support network, and cope. Stories about abuse can be informative and help people leave terrible situations. Even the stories with unreliable narrators.

usually idgaf about blocking but it just makes me mad that these blogs are actively hurting my mutuals and they have 0 way to protect themselves from the original blog. the best they can do is block confessional blogs and hope whoever sent that shit doesn't find and lash out at them.

I had p much all of them blocked originally, i only noticed it recently when I saw yet ANOTHER instance of this via screenshot and wanted to go see what the damage was looking like.

but like yeah, lets ignore criticism about how we r protecting harmful/racist users. that feels normal.

like even if the mods are like "oh this is mean to say", we are still cultivating an ecosystem where people are rewarded for saying mean shit. and the people they are saying mean shit about have 0 power to protect themselves from the user.

i love how all the otherkin/therian confessional blogs on tumblr have me blocked because i said "having a blog dedicated to platforming anon hate is actually really bad for the community and allows people to say really shitty things while also protecting them from any backlash"

I get the safety concern, but I will also always be within 2 hours of a family member and I won't be driving alone. they're making me feel stupid over a weekend trip I've had planned since august. I'll still be going but like. Am I crazy for thinking 8hrs will be fine if 6 is easy for me??

do yall think a 8hr drive is significantly worse than a 6hr one? my family is pissed about a decision i've made and i do not really know if it's fully warranted. I regularly will do 4hr drives and I've managed 6hr ones just fine without stopping. 8 doesn't seem like its that worse?

the wind is crazy today. downside of having so many fins is that they are flying everywhere and flapping and it's strange but..... nice. rarely do i get the physical sensation of my phantom fins like this. It's like canned air to a dusty shelf.

From the moment I understood the weakness of my feet, it disgusted me.
I craved the strength and fluidity of fins.
I aspired to the allure of the Little Mermaid.
Your kind cling to your flesh, as though it will not cripple and fail you.
