The GMC has been able to spend unlimited funds on its own lawyers thanks to the metaphorical blank cheque handed to it.
We don’t have that luxury and it’s important we are able to pay our lawyers for their hard work.

We would not want to think the College had had the wool pulled over its head by nuances of wording, so we would welcome clarification from the RCP as to the exact terminology that was used in the answer given to Professor Kar’s question.
Did Mr Massey tell the RCP that the GMC would "accept" College scope for PAs, or "utilise" it?
A commitment to “utilise” rather than “adopt” would mean GMC having regard to, but not consider itself bound to or committed to enforce, such guidance.

Hi @assocanaes.bsky.social when did this happen please?
When did we start admitting AAs to an association of anaesthetists?
Were the membership balloted before this change?
Does @assocanaes.bsky.social approve/endorse AAs?

Nah, we had lettuce of a prime minister that tanked us with not a single tariff in sight
A potentially full stomach is always an anaesthetic risk
In a theatre environment we can mitigate, RSI
In a non theatre environment, protecting the airway can be difficult
They're is a paucity of evidence with these drugs
This is a reasonable summary but I have concerns. Anaesthetists are worried and I'm not sure they're being listened to.

Never figured out who a 'health chief' is...
In the right hands, both can be and are safe
I'm wary of end points comparing very short interventions, a year down the line.
I'm interested in what the cognoitive function is like that evening, the next day, may at the end of the week.
What's the median 12 month mortality for this population?
Confession: I LOVE hyponatremia 🤓
(I know, I know. What can I say, I'm a true internist!)
HypoNa is often feared, maligned, and misunderstood - but I promise it doesn't have to be scary!
Here are my top 10 hyponatremia tips and tricks - a 🧵

I consider myself an isolate. A shy gay needy teenager who "blossomed" into a problem drinking, gambling addicted, quiz loving comedian. This is my tale, and hopefully it's full of surprises. Not a cheesy celeb story.

When junior colleagues start off by saying "this is probably a stupid question but..." it invariably turns out to be an EXCELLENT question
I’m worried sick about patient safety as highly trained clinicians are replaced by 2yr-trained associates. Does this make me a “social media rabble”? Or is the “be kind” movement being cynically weaponised? Those monitoring my posts, put this on the agenda for the meeting you’ve asked me to attend.

We've been seeing each other on and off for nearly 20 years now.
No pulse pressure?
Yeah but I don't think surgeons are being dishonest about how much time they need. We co-exist but are actually in different relative dimensions in time.
Yes to all of these!
Add a lovely trip to the dump to this list. The sorting, the order, the clearing of clutter
I have now treated 8 colleagues from my own hospital, including major emergencies like cardiac arrest. They ALL regretted how much they’d been working and resolved to reduce stress
The most recent said “I don’t want to be the hardest working doctor in the graveyard”
Been thinking about that one
A victory for patient safety: our case against the GMC over their failure to properly regulate Associates is now heading straight to the High Court!
The Court ruled it raises serious issues of importance for patients & professionals, and he granted permission and expedition.

⚠️ Bleomycin & anaesthesia⚠️
Do you know what precautions are required in patients who have been exposed to bleomycin?
Exposure to high FiO2 at any time post-bleomycin exposure may trigger life-threatening pneumonitis.

Many trees in frame, but a tree towers over all others as the subject of this portrait. The sun, shines low in the sky making the subject almost silhouette but not quite.
Goodnight my beautiful 🦋 friends.
Have a safe and sound sleep tonight, that is if your life allows it of course. Hopefully we wake again for another round in the morning.
Some trees to help you sleep... 😴
