I made a post last night about the thing that helped me get better and faster at sketching (drawing with ballpoint pen & paper!)
I think my artist mutuals should return the favor and teach me how to make flat coloring feel fun and satisfying instead of like mechanical busywork LOL (pretty please)

so basically get you a pack of Bic Cristals and a cheap sketchbook or even just a ream of copy paper & maybe an accordion folder or a binder to put your sketches in!
Bic Cristals are like 2 dollars and have every color you'd need. if u are feeling fancy get a gelly roll white pen for highlights!

It's beneficial for both traditional and digital artists. Digital artists I think are even worse about neurotic perfectionism because you can ctrl+z and erase everything 50000 times over with zero drawbacks. its just a great exercise in confidence i love pens and its been helpful to me lately (3/4)

Bic ink (or other oil based inks, like Papermate ballpoints) let you control density & line weight with pressure. so you can get different shades, get a light undersketch, dark lines, & this helps you be ok with making small mistakes & be more confident with your line placement, the first time (2/4)

I'm gonna try to abridge this post (lol) that I made on FB. I heard a lot throughout the years that I sketch really fast. Which is true, but I counterbalance it by coloring & lining slow as shit.

No advice is one-size-fits-all, but my secret was to JUST draw with ballpoint pen & nothing else! (1/4)

my favorite fun fact is that the sketch underneath is actually a Doodle or Die relic way back from 2012. I always wanted to do something with it but never did. Until now, better late than never!
