its so interesting to me when i see an interpretation of a character i dont agree with, but the thought and reasoning that was used to get to that interpretation is solid. always intriguing to see how different people interpret the same words/actions. even if my kneejerk reaction is nuh uh

feels more like a “read the room, mccoy….” moment than pointedly insulting. of course spock doesnt take that well and lashes out pretty harshly bc he’s hurt, but yeah idk i feel like i see people talk abt this scene like ohh this is just mccoy being mean to spock again.. not this time imo

like the first thing is that humans just generally find large numbers harder to wrap their brain around so the death of a whole ship is hard to comprehend, and the idea of actually feeling that happen is just so far beyond the human experience. not really considerate to keep questioning tho

i feel like people misunderstand the scene in the immunity syndrome where mccoy keeps asking how could spock know/feel the intrepid die.. its definitely not very considerate but hes not like. deliberately making a jab at spock (this time)
