After All These Years, it’s Moon Child Moon Child languished in obscurity until the internet discovered the power to be his friend.

For @aftermath.site, I spoke with @seven.eurosky.social about the sudden, viral love for Moon Child and the rocky history that led to it. aftermath.site/moon-child-t...

Yeah. I do think in many ways the personal investment creates a whole other dynamic. You aren't just told a story in a video game you to some degree live it. I suppose to many seeing the Resident Evil films misrepresent Racoon City is not dissimilar to, say, how the French feel about Emily in Paris.

Interview With the Vampire, Annihilation and Edge of Tomorrow all make pretty significant alterations to the source material but to the best of my knowledge are mostly beloved by the fans. I can't imagine something like, say, a Deus Ex tv show being allowed to play as fast and loose with it's story.

Working on a little piece about that Mass Effect TV show, but it has got me wondering what it is about video game adaptions that demands a more slavish devotion to the source material in comparison to other mediums like books and comics.

Portrait of the assassin droid IG88, first seen in 1980s Star Wars Episode V, The Empire Strikes back. A tall, cylindrical head with dozens of orange eyes set across its surface. He looks menacing and emotionless. His brushed metallic body is showing the age of years of battling the worst of the galaxy’s bounty’s. 2-4B graphite on 110gsm paper. Coloured and edited in ‘Photopea’.

New colour piece. My favourite Star Wars character, always fun to illustrate.

Alright, here's how I would reboot Doctor Who. Version Two. On a budget. "Well, here we go again." - Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart, Planet of the Spiders, 1974. Part One: You've Got to Walk It Like You Talk...

Doctor Who has been on my mind again, and so I decided to go back and explore the idea of how I'd re-launch the show given the chance, now taking into account the fact that the show will likely have to make do with a reduced budget and a clean slate. eljackscomicsblog.blogspot.com/2026/03/alri...

It also doesn't make sense once you remember that there are parts of the world that don't celebrate Christmas, and also how time zones work.

Await Further Instructions. The ending is just so bleak and nihilistic that it destroys any kind of point the movie was trying to make.

Its not a hot take but man the way the word "content" is used these days. A vile bit of late stage capitalist propaganda, lumping all forms of human creativity and expression into a single wastebin teaching the public to treat all art as disposable.

The way profit maxxing corpo culture has invaded every form of art through algorithms pushing people into daily posting is really weighing on me lately. Efficiency and regularity of making "content" being prized above all else feels so grim, man.

Currently reading Curry's Memoir at the moment and one thing that stands out was how much he really resisted the idea of playing the same type of character over and over. He absolutely was more interested in new experiences over mainstream success.

It’s getting hard to afford basic things and I can’t borrow from family whom I don’t want to see or speak to again. I can’t lower my prices again please if you can any amount of support even in tips helps and goes a long way. I’m desperate and have few options. Please help share the op. 🙏

It was an unneeded addition to the character and frankly didn't even need to be there for the plot of the TV movie to work, but it's such a minor change to the character's backstory that there wouldn't have been much harm at just leaving it be.

My real controversial Doctor Who opinion is that they should have never went back on the "Doctor is half human," stuff from the TV movie.

Well ultimately it only happened because WB needed something to headline their streaming platform but Covid had left them with a depleted catalogue. If Covid hadn't have happened there's the very real possibility that WB wouldn't have been interested in footing the bill to get it finished.

Dallas is an odd one, but soap operas usually play more fast and loose with continuity than other shows, and it wasn't a retcon motivated by fan reaction, so that kind of thing is an entirely different beast.

I also find it really funny because Capaldi's era was not well liked in some circles, and it undeniably was where the shows audience drop off began, so them choosing to stop with Capaldi specifically reveals where their priorities lie.

I'm not sure we'd ever see it as a regular occurrence, I'm more just thinking that it is possible that the right (or wrong) combination of factors could eventually lead to an ill-fated do-over in one form or another. By all accounts the Snider Cut shouldn't have ever seen the light of day either.

2 days ago 2 0 1 0

Yeah. I think the complaints were reasonable and the changes were a much needed improvement, but there was shocking levels of entitlement on display. Running the whole thing as a 'campaign' was a precursor to what we saw with the snider cut stuff.

And, to be clear, they absolutely should not consider doing this. Releasing the Snider Cut didnt satisfy anyone and only led to Relauch the Snider verse. I dont think re-doing the ending of Game of Thrones would really have pleased anybody.

Like, in a decades time, given how online engagement is heading, I can see a Game of Thrones level disappointment leading to a network calling all the cast back to do a new ending. Apple Tree Yard may well one day exist.

I will be honest though, we're in the era of the Snider Cut, I think there is a very real possibility that in my lifetime we'll see a film series or tv show bow to fan backlash and just straight up overweight a film or series if it was received badly enough. It'd never be Who, but something.

I kind of feel a little personally responsible for all this, given that I got swept up in the Retake Mass Effect movement in the wake of Mass Effect 3's conclusion. Which I regret. But at least asking for an underwhelming ending to be elaborated on was a more realistic sounding goal.

Ironically all the fan complaining about The Last Jedi was never going to get it retconned, but it more than likely did contribute to the shoddy state that Rise of Skywalker ended up in. Reap what you sow I guess.

2 days ago 4 0 2 0

Reminds me of the petition for Disney to retcon The Last Jedi and overwrite it with a new Episode 8, as if the corporation was going to just ditch a film that cost them millions to make and that made them millions back. If it was a flop, maybe, but it resoundingly wasn't.

It's also a proposal that doesn't even feel necessary for something like Doctor Who. You wouldn't even really get anything out of it other than writing out a couple of controversial elements like the Timeless Child or Bigeneration, but by the show's very nature you can kind of just ignore them.
