Americans suffer from a desperate need to believe in the inherent goodness of the American electorate--the idea that a voter in 2024--after nearly a decade of unfiltered, widely broadcast, deeply fascist rhetoric from Donald Trump--was simply "tricked" by a Facebook algorithm or a Fox News segment.

OBAMA: *wears tan suit*

- Behavior unbecoming for a president, major scandal.

TRUMP: *literally says he will end a civilization*

- Meh, whatever, it's Trump being Trump, hehe.

The U.S. census numbers are a measure of the country's demographic health, and take account of births and deaths as well as immigration, emigration and deportation. The country needs a population of young workers and taxpayers large enough to finance infrastructure like schools, hospitals and health care for older residents.

This is pure 19th century nationalist ideology.

"The U.S. census numbers are a measure of the country’s demographic health."

Thanks, Mussolini.

We only "need" more young workers because the top 1% are taking 50% of the economic growth (round numbers)

That thing about us being like elves to our pets because by comparison we’re functionally immortal is cute until you realise at the end of Lord of The Rings they decided it was kinder to put Frodo out of his misery and said they were taking him upstate to Valinor to run and be free

Funny thing about American mass media is how woke content is broadly popular, routinely pays for itself, and sometimes goes blockbuster, whereas right-wing content is a narrow niche that rarely reaches breakeven, never goes blockbuster, and usually requires immense subsidies for it to exist at all.

Why are ICE agents coming to airports? Because GOP blocked 6 different bills that would have opened TSA. They won’t fund TSA unless we give ICE unlimited funds and impunity. This is the GOP’s mess.

Something I haven’t seen mentioned is that more than TSA work at airports! Janitors, food service, retail, etc. I have no faith that security clearance to work at an airport will keep those people safe from ICE, especially brown and Black people with accents.

• Racism is expensive.
• Racism is not cost-effective.

The pending $10 gallon of gas, the overpriced food costs, the impending world war and economic collapse was completely avoidable.

Enjoy your racist bounty.

this is what happens when you let this much wealth and power concentrate in the hands of so few people

nobody wants any of this but them and they’re the only ones who get a vote

Stunned by all the “ICE isn’t gonna do anything more than what TSA already does” rhetoric.

Untrained white supremacists who’ve been told by bosses they’re not subject to laws will have POC and women lined up in front of them to grope and abuse and they don’t even have to chase them.

Harris accused Altman of being the “Goebbels of the Trump administration.”

But on Tuesday, Harris said by email: “It was late and I had a few too many martinis so I misspoke when I said Goebbels… I should’ve said Friedrich Flick.”

I appreciate that Murphy is being clear about this.

at the same time...like, he's a senator? why is he demanding we do something? isn't he in a better position to do something? 1

My now immaculate knowledge graph of life Turning meeting transcripts into an Obsidian knowledge graph. Using Granola, a small Rust CLI, and a Claude skill, I extracted people and concepts from ~600 meetings and let the graph build itself. The result: a surprisingly dense map of relationships, ideas, and patterns hiding in everyday conversations.

I posted a fun post about how I made my transcripts into really neat knowledge graphs. Hope it is helpful
