I tried googling it, but nothing it turned up sounds quite like what I'm talking about. It's not claustrophobia, I'm not afraid of small or crowded spaces. Cleithrophobia comes closer, but I'm not afraid of being trapped. Merinthophobia is also close, but it's not quite that either.

The weird thing is I wouldn't have cared if I had my arms in front of me so that I could move them. It would have been cramped but it would have been fine.

I definitely see the irony in this considering what I'm into, but the thing is even my kinks can trigger this. It's weird.

One night, I woke up with both of them squeezed against me, with my arms pinned at my side, and I had to wake them up to get some space because otherwise I would have lost it, even though physical closeness with them is one of the things I want most in life.

I spent last Christmas with @jineko.bsky.social and @azuredrago.bsky.social, both of whom I love deeply, and shared a bed with them. I deliberately chose to sleep in our shared bed.

There are a couple more niche situations that also trigger this, such as the idea of having my arms bent and getting my hands tied against my upper arm so I can't unfurl them, or wearing a straight jacket, or being wrapped up in a blanket without being able to get out.

It's so bad that seeing it happen to someone else, or even in a movie or game, or even imagining it for too long causes me extreme discomfort or, in some cases, straight up panic. It can get pretty bad, and I've jumped up in bed more than a few times when this stuff creeps into my mind.

There are certain situations that make much worse, which I am sure are already scary on their own for most people, such as being stuck in a tight tunnel like a vent, or a narrow passage in a cave (like how cavers squeeze through gaps with their arms at their side).

I'm extremely afraid of having my arms pinned at my sides or otherwise against my body and being unable to move them (And some other specific positions that I will elaborate on later). I'm entirely okay with having my hands tied up. Having my legs restrained is unpleasant but not as bad.
