I added two extra inbetween frames and played around with the timing. I think this is as good as I can get it for now. But I still would like the swipe to feel a little more snappy. Maybe smear out the inbetween frames?

Their types would be Deep Blue (water), Cyclone (wind) and Bolt (electric). The types are ordered alphabetically to make it easy to remember. Each type beats the two following.

And now for something a little lighter! Here's page 4-6 of my monster taming comic. Yup that's right, the monsters are called Ur (or Uru for plural) and they can be "bound" to simple pottery jars. More of an ancient vibe than Pokemon

Roly Poly, another example of great monster design by Akira Toriyama. Green, pudgy and able to roll up in to a ball.
Roly Poly!! It's my favorite monster from Chrono Trigger. The whole mechanic where the imps could ride them, but you still had to target and kill them separately was so impressive to me. Square Enix didn't have to add that, but they did.

I finished the side walk-cycles for these lil critters. You will find them struttin all over our gameworld. Once you get hitboxed the true monster gets revealed. They're simple shapes but it was still hard to animate. I'm no pro so they pretty floaty in places. Tips welcome!

Concept art for the water type, Aqualgo
Aqualgo is a wetland dwelling Ur monster. It evolves from Loofal. The former is based on Allosaurus and Baryonix, the latter is based on Dilophosaurus. He's an older design so I don't have that many quality sketches to show of his conception.

As a kid, during the jurassic park craze I used to have a Dilophosaurus toy which could shoot water out of it's mouth. Then when the pokemon craze hit, it got repurposed as a water type pokemon together with a whole other bunch of toy animals we had.

Sasqwoosh and its tamer Uhmac
This is still one of my favorite monster designs I did so far. Who doesn't like a knuckle-walking gorilla-horse right? Sasqwoosh is based on the extinct Chalicotherium. It can create eery mist in the dense forests it inhabits.

I finally sat down and drew some free form concept art again for my monster taming game and it felt good. Might have gone a little wild on the details for the gate. I fit five Ur monsters in there and plenty of other symbolism. 😅
