Legendary. First ballot hall of famer right there

Starting a mid-decade redistricting war only to end up with -1 seats is the same fine strategic genius and subtle grasp of game theory that brough us the Strait of Hormuz.
Congratulations, Virginia! Republicans are trying to tilt the midterm elections in their favor, but they haven’t done it yet. Thanks for showing us what it looks like to stand up for our democracy and fight back.

Ukrainian mountaineer Iryna Halai summited Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) in Nepal. Marking the 10th anniversary of her 2016 Everest climb, it's her 2nd ascent since the start of Russian full-scale invasion. She dedicated the feat to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the 60,000 women serving in them.

Delightful piece from @civil.ge. I’ve been to wedding supras and supras because it’sTuesday. The performances are always top notch. I can’t be seen as wanting an invite to a kelekhi, even though the deceased might have expeted his/her last supra to be the best one. civil.ge/archives/730...
Adidas has launched its Single Shoe service in Ukraine, allowing customers to buy a single sneaker at half the price of a pair. This service is already available in 23 European countries, including Poland, and is designed for individuals with lower limb differences who only need one sneaker.

Get the backstory of those ballsy Iranian AI propaganda vids beating MAGA at its own game.
Someday, with luck and hard work, she will have a name too.
No Cards, huh?
A tweet from Pope Leo XIV that reads: “When simulation becomes the norm, it weakens the human capacity for discernment. As a result, our social bonds close in upon themselves, forming self-referential circuits that no longer expose us to reality. We thus come to live within bubbles, impermeable to one another. Feeling threatened by anyone who is different, we grow unaccustomed to encounter and dialogue. In this way, polarization, conflict, fear and violence spread. What is at stake is not merely the risk of error, but a transformation in our very relationship with truth.”
Apparently the Pope has read Baudrillard.
Maybe we’re both right!
A gift link, if you have a strong stomach
But in a place like GE or Serbia, is that even an option? I might argue that the profile matters less than the ability to tap into whatever grievance the electorate holds with the regime, and present a case for change.
I would read a lot of words about that and the campaign strategy they developed, and made work.
no doubt about that, but he had to communicate it in terms that made it matter to ordinary people.
they would have been seen as part of a rotten system that cared more about themselves and maintaining power than addressing the concerns of ordinary voters. They worked it for two years, developing credibility, even before it became a campaign. I think any party could do that. Most don't. It's hard
I'm not sure I agree 100% with you. I think it had more to do with Magyar and Tisza actually working hard, outside of Budapest, and communicating to people who didn't already agree with them. Had they NOT done that, I think, based more on what I know about voters elsewhere in the region....
Think the Greenland issue has gone away?

Promo-LEX, one of Moldova's most prominent NGOs, has published a rare poll focusing specifically on Gagauz respondents. Lots to unpack here, but a couple of concerning findings stood out. First, only 6% of respondents support EU integration, ...
Those who love to pity Russia for the 1990s economic crisis never consider why East-Central Europe dipped less and recovered faster. First, because ECE rejected communism decisively. Second, because it democratized, unlike Ru. Neither explanation suggests we should be mourning the Soviet demise.
I know it might feel good to attack Vance for saying it was a great achievement to cut off all US aid to Ukraine. However that was never up to Vance, it was entirely Trump’s decision.
If you attack Vance and don’t mention Trump, you are spreading a false idea.
Krastev called Orban the right-wing Castro, which I think is exactly right: the leader of a small relatively insignificant country, that nevertheless became the ideological lodestar for a global movement after being propped up by russia
