Grant Abbit's videos and teaching style are vastly superior for actually learning blender. Blender Guru's stuff fails to teach, it's just him asking you to mimic what he does with little explanation. If you don't explain what you're doing and why, the info doesn't stick.

Absolutely. It's old internet jargon, so only a tiny amount of people in the right age range were big enough PC nerds at the time to have encountered it. I know my peers at the time were often shocked I had a computer at home, I only had a handful of friends my age that also had PCs.
There is now a version available that can be viewed from the US, and it also has a film along with it instead of just audio.

Prepare for it to keep randomly gaslighting you. I once had a 15 minute conversation with it trying to convince it that it could turn on my light, where it kept denying it could. It eventually told me it could if I asked it to, I said I had been asking it the whole time, and it then turned them on.

Spoke too soon. He didn't even last a shift. I think he decided he doesn't like cleaning, and didn't realize how much of the job is literally just housekeeping. We weren't even on something particularly gross like the toilet. Cleaning surfaces in the kitchen was too much for him.
Aide instantly recognized RimWorld, immediately mentioned it as soon as he walked in. That's probably a good sign, it means he is a PC gamer.
I find whenever I have a home health aide coming over, my go to game to have open is Rimworld, because I can pause it whenever so I can direct my aide, but also any fucking going on or war crimes like turning people skin into hats, usually goes unnoticed because of the cute UI. Work appropriate.
I'm not really sure, I know they had one in my town once and I heard from my friends that work at the venue that it was fucking awful, whatever it actually is.

I use them a lot too. Just be conscious of how overlapping them quickly adds up in terms of draw calls because each polygon has to render again for each transparent layer over it. For me, the billiards table is always the most draw calls in my scene, so many transparent layers on the thing.
To add to this, watch the overuse of transparent materials, especially in ways that those will overlap with each other. A shelf full of transparent bottles = a shelf full of draw calls.
A "hero" object or view is one that people will be up close to. In FPS shooters, guns are always hero objects because you have a close view of them in your hand. Some clutter prop on a table you won't have your face against, not so much. A "hero view" would be like the area around the DJ deck, etc.

Honestly despite how challenging things have been lately, everyday I find myself just feeling so damn lucky to be surrounded by so much creativity all the time. I feel like I'm in some sort of secret golden age the rest of the world has failed to notice occurring.

I love substance designer though! It's not as scary once you start playing with it.
I should learn how to make the new path tools. I can make brushes and materials already, path tools can't be that much more difficult.

Agreed, that'd be more useful for the type of instances I like to run as well. I can only see myself using it as it is now in rare circumstances for specific events. I'm glad it is getting implemented though, maybe we can have more control in the future.
My favorite is still the lovely shot of earth with the atmospheric glow and the auroras visible. Just amazing. As a side note, it also made me feel really happy with Space Engine. I have the full commercial version and use it to create space images, skyboxes, videos, etc for use in my art.
I believe some of the shots also show venus pretty prominently, and also some have Saturn.
