It's not just an argument of redeeming a character who had some bad writing. There are a lot of very messy and sometimes gross layers there.
But it's talked about as if it's purely Blizzard's strange desire to hold onto her character. I won't say it's none of that. It's just not *only* that.

I've talked a lot recently about Blizzard solving plots instead of exploring them, and putting him back on the throne after realizing he's worthy would just totally solve his character.
You either admit the character is un-salvageable and let the rumored attempt to destroy the character win, which would be gross, or you have to write a story about characters having to forgive and excuse genocide*

If you're going to defend Hasan from a hate campaign, it's important not to defend all of his actions. He has said some truly awful things. Those are being brought up now because the hate campaign has run out of BS to fuel the fire. They don't care about misogyny, they are just using it.
I am fairly offended by the notion that a woman cannot be sexually assaulted by her boss/ someone she works with and then get up and go to work. Does a women need to lie in the fetal position for days to be a real victim? Please tell me how someone who has been assaulted is supposed to act.

Smarter people have already laid out why that is. I will just say, if this is how they want to handle the trilogy, I don't think I can be interested in what comes next.
WoW has bounced back in a lot of ways, but the writing has been a disappointment for many years now.
Sometimes things are bad because the end goal is always off. Sometimes things are bad because they are rushed. Sometimes things are bad because you can feel the lack of care. This was bad for all 3.
I wouldn't even say the devs don't care about WoW, but this isn't how you care for an MMO.
It wasn't datamining. I didn't play the PTR or read datamining from the max level campaign. It wasn't being bitter my headcanon isn't real. I didn't have a lot to go off. It wasn't my unwillingness to give things a chance. I hated WoD and Shadowlands less than most people.
There was a way to convince me. To get me on board. I change my mind about things a lot because it's nicer to have reasons to like something than to hate it. And at the end of the day I do love WoW, I just hate whatever is happening now with the story.
I actually don't need to be like "well this is the story they want to tell so let's criticize it with that in mind." It was always going to be bad because the division between elves is foundational to WoW.
The only thing that can actually be said is it didn't have to be this bad, and it didn't.
