EU’s energy crisis response is broader than expected: remote work mandates, heat pump subsidies, EV leasing schemes — plus electrification targets and new laws to tax electricity below fossil fuels.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with the 1911 Census? I ws trying to do a comparison with 1926 but the 1911 census keeps showing an error for me

I was aware of a Master Corkery in the local national school who laid great emphasis on Irish. One of my grand aunts, born on the same small farm, won a scholarship to UCG in the 1930s and credited her grasp of Irish.

As I say, even Thomas Farrell, born 1815, didn't have Irish in the 1901 Census.

Search the Census | The National Archives of Ireland Search through historical census records with The National Archives of Ireland, offering access to essential data for genealogy and historical research.

The newly released 1926 Census of the Irish Free State is fascinating. One observation is that my grandfather and his siblings, who were all under 10 in 1926, are the first Farrells in a census to have 'Irish and English'. This is a direct impact of the newly established state's new curriculum

The Trump administration rewrote their entire foreign policy doctrine on Europe to make it about supporting administrations like Orbán's. That might have skipped the attention of most Americans, but we definitely noticed it over here.

Not to mention, the Putin angle to all of the above.

Tonight feels like a reverse #Brexit. The Brexit result signalled a rightward tilt and a return to 'might is right' in intl affairs. Then followed Trump's victory in November 2016 & a persistent threat to the post- 1945 world order

Tonight there is light at the end of the tunnel. Well done Hungary

The Trump regime is actively supporting far right movements in Europe.
European regime changes are part of the US National Security Strategy from December 2025.

The fuel protests in Ireland are a Trojan Horse that aim to bring fascism to Ireland. We are witnessing the birth of an Irish version MAGA. The more you look, the more obvious it is that many of the key spokesmen (and they are all men) are dangerous anti-immigrant far right agitators.Wake up.

Putin and Trump are both absolutely desperate for Orban to win in Hungary.

Historians of the future will have so many threads to examine in establishing the true extent of global far right coordination 2014-2026.

As we progress through this evening I think it will be very important for people to be able to accept the idea that Trump is both a monster and he is full of shit...and that being full of shit does not make him any less monstrous.

I don’t think I’ve ever been so worried. 9/11 was viscerally terrifying; Iraq war; Brexit; Russian invasion of Ukraine and seizure of Crimea, withdrawal from Afghanistan, October 7; Gaza slaughter; Sudan; so many awful events; but nothing is proving as globally catastrophic as the election of Trump.

A reminder that the Heritage Foundation architected Project 2025 with Viktor Orbán in mind. Kevin Roberts called modern Hungary “the model” for conservative statecraft.

Far-right authoritarianism is a globally collaborative movement.

Pretty much at every step since Trump rode down that escalator in 2015, most commentators have fundamentally missed what he is about and what the implications of his words and actions are.

I have been worried about what Trump represented since about 2015 (or whenever he first announced his candidacy). It has been so frustrating to see him normalised and it be implied we're 'overreacting'. I also lost a friend in 2024 over this, apparently I had level 5 'Trump derangement syndrome'!

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
