Vielen Dank, Andreas! Ja bei dieser Galaxie hat sich das wirklich viel mehr gelohnt als bei dem letzten Objekt. πŸ™‚

NGC 3344 is about 24 million light years away from Earth and is located in the constellation of Leo Minor. It’s a beautiful barred spiral galaxy seen almost face on.

NGC 3344 - The Sliced Onion Galaxy captured from my patio on seven nights this month πŸ˜ŠπŸ”

It was shot on the EdgeHD 8 for a total integration time of about 46 hours in LRGB and Ha to reveal the star forming regions.

Dense starfield surrounding the Iris Nebula, with a bright bluish core embedded in dark, wispy dust clouds and faint integrated flux nebula softly glowing across the background.

Around the Iris Nebula, faint cosmic dust (IFN) glows with the light of the Milky Way itself, turning the background into the subject.

Thank you so much, Andreas. 😊 The Ha emission wasn’t really distinct so I spent 22 h on Ha alone to reveal some details there! But it was a full moon anyway so there was nothing else to do πŸ˜…
