You wouldn't. But, there are people who will look at that graphic and see things that aren't there.

Canadian here. To be clear, we don't love or trust China. It's a relative question. We just think China are more reliable right now. Took a lot for us to get there.

The Culture was a post scarcity communist Utopia. Elon is part right. If AI takes all the jobs and produces all the goods, gonna need a new post capitalist way to allocate resources. Funny he's not talking about taxing wealth and or communalizing the means of production.

So, I remain on your side but protesting can have a positive effect, regardless of policy impact, if it builds a sense of community in the opposition so they turn out to vote. The bad guys want everyone to feel helpless, disconnected, and nihilistic or apathetic. Fighting that matters.

if fairness to Vance, this administration doesn't exactly have a lot of policy gems to celebrate. But, yeah, ghoulish.

Approach of end of career and anxiety over my son's future dominate for me. I always assumed I'd be fine and be able to make money/meet needs. But, the end of productivity looms large.

Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it feels like Rutte is trying to throw Trump a bone while national leaders facing elections can't. I have to believe the European strategy is to play for time while assuming the worst

Dating was hard. Finding someone. Getting over shyness and fear of rejection. Trying to connect when you are both uncertain and trying to be better than your best self. That is normal. The big lie of the manosphere is that is supposed to be easy..that there's a cheat code. Real men do the work.

I'm almost 60, so no longer out there. But, it looks like it might be a great time to be a normal, non red pilled young man with realistic expectations. Seems like a lot of the competition are self selecting out of the dating pool.

Enshitified tech now has the power to enshitify humans. Not a positive development.

Maybe I misread you. Point of fact though. Paying public servants well demonstrably reduces corruption . In the old mercantilism days, all these positions were assumed to be sources of grift. A move to professionalism was a massive win. Pragmatism is about statistical truths and not absolutes.

And your point? Humans are fallible and solutions are imperfect. But if your point is "so don't try", please miss me with that shit. Systems matter. Culture matters. Laws matter. Expectations matter.

In fact this is why we should pay public servants well. People who volunteer do it for grift. This is how it used to work. The modern way is better.

I came to the Lowest of the Low through a guy playing Rosey and Grey at a campfire not far from the Arctic Circle in the NWT and they became one of my favourite bands. Absolute classic.

Dear JD. We signed NAFTA. We signed USMCA (the greatest trade agreement ever according to your boss). We lived by the terms. The terms were fairsih but always favoured the bigger partner just a little. We accepted that. Lie to your base all you want, but we know the game.

I remain astonished at how breathtakingly mid these guys are. Princeton my ass. Guy wouldn't have survived as a junior analyst where I worked and now he runs the most powerful military on the planet ?

And, um, we raise and train the humans anyway for other reasons, so, the incremental energy cost is zero. Altman's argument was profoundly stupid and anti human and he's getting way less flack than he deserves.

What a time to be a normal, non red pilled, young male. The competition self selects out of the dating pool.

Content consumer here and so on your side. The loss of text as primary method of communicating knowledge is a massive step back. I get so much more from good writing in so much less time. I wish it could be "and" not "or".

Um. Uh. So, Sam is saying replacing human workers with AI is ok from an energy perspective since humans consume energy too. Humans consume energy if they work or not. So, does Sam advocate for depopulation? Is this Logan's Run?

His explanation actually assumes there will be inflation, but that wages will keep up. Second part debatable. First part not. Tariffs ONLY work by driving up prices so less efficient domestic producers can compete. That's it. That's the whole thing.

They could do 15% nominal. Inflation would also be running near 15 % for them to do it so Real GDP, not so much.
