Always interesting to see how just how much RSD pricing varied.
Seen Blur at a variety of prices from £30 to £43!

Boxing RSD is often a calm, genial affair for most indies. There’s a chance for a more leisurely browse, to pick over what remains and hear all of the best anecdotes from the mania of the first few hours. If you need some tips on what to pick up, the latest column can help:
If you’re in one of the #RSD26 queues, then use my column to help you finalise your list:

Laura Marling - Live in Manchester 2 LP - RSD
This one was done at Optimal, but plenty of this year’s RSD treats have been made via Pallas! What’s going on? Find out more in my @clashmusic.com column.

Didn’t arrive in time for deadline. Told it may yet get to me
Feel free to direct this at the right eyeballs by replying with your most wanted release and where you’re planning on buying it.

How does @recordstoredayuk.bsky.social 2026 sound? There’s a column on its way for you next week!
(These are review copies. Nobody has broken any rules or an embargo)
Support your local indie next Saturday to secure your favourites.
I’ll be writing them no czechs
A heartening number of RSD items pressed at Pallas this year. Lots of Optimal too.
Naturally, if it says glitter vinyl, you know who did it.
I did a Top 40 of the Pet Shop Boys' B-sides and extra tracks a couple of years ago and so here you go
Hard agree with every single word
Working on the @recordstoredayuk.bsky.social preview edition of the column for @clashmusic.com. Some very good bits coming out this year.
Really surprised that a critic as experienced as Alex Preston would stoop to using AI to write. Plus I can't imagine rereading and editing my copy without noticing that some of the sentences weren't my own. (The last sentence of the article is very droll.)

The Cardigans ‘First Band On The Moon’ LP
Not sure what prompted me to pull this from the racks, but it was a delight
Oooh, lovely. Looks like they’ve done a fine job of combining the best of both worlds on that one. Was an RP6 user prior to getting the Planar 8
‘Dylan’s Gospel’ by The Brothers And Sisters
And now for another from that category
Nina Simone’s incredible ‘Here Comes The Sun’ album. Gold dust from start to finish.
One of the true Sunday morning records
Joe Hicks’ ‘Before It Gets Dark’
If you ever wished The Leisure Society had wanted to be a bit more Radiohead, then this album could be for you.
Not a word, as yet. They did the big deluxe box for the 20th. Another HMV vinyl day one, perhaps?
If I could heart this five times…
It’s the weekend!
You should treat yourself. Buy some records!
But which ones? Allow me and @clashmusic.com to help you with that. @acerecords.bsky.social are delivering the goods:

Next up "Soul/funk/blues/jazz/reggae".
You forgot "world"
A category divider for vinyl records labelled, simply - in every sense - ‘girls’
The famously niche record fair category lives on
Jesus, they weren’t bloody joking.
