Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

In a rambling speech, President Trump announced that America “is going to start producing [weapons] much faster” than before. Trump then went on to claim that he was the “king” of Boeing.

For Black Memphis residents already burdened by pollution, the gas turbines that powered Musk’s supercomputer raised concerns.
The Chamber of Commerce downplayed fears by claiming 9 government agencies oversee the facility. That’s not exactly true.

Old Soviet joke for today:
A man walks into a newsstand every day, looks around, and leaves.
After a long time of this, the owner says “Can I help you find something?”
“I’m looking for the obituaries.”
“The obituaries are in the back of the newspaper, comrade.”
“Not the one I’m looking for.”

Shamelessness is their superpower.
for many of the worst people in our politics, the only real belief they have is that it should be illegal for us not to like them

97 is a good age, but still sad news that the lyrical master Tom Lehrer is gone.

The President—who uses antisemitic slurs—is building concentration camps and an enormous secret police force.
Ya know, maybe this is just because I’m Jewish, but I wish the political opposition and the media made a bigger deal about it!
The New York Times’ editorial decisions make more sense when you remember their publisher is a fifth-generation owner who was handed the paper as a birthright while the managing editor was a Harvard legacy whose father founded Staples.
They’re very firm believers in the meritocracy, you see.
I obsess over the NYT because they normalize fascism while setting the agenda for Corporate News, while maintaining legitimacy with Democrats & independents, which makes them uniquely dangerous to US.
a good indication of how bad the NYT reporting on Zohran’s college application was is that it got zero pickup from other mainstream publications yesterday. the only coverage was from the Times, the Post, and some right-wing slop farms

I'm sorry you had to delete your posts about the Times running a substanceless smear story against the Democratic mayoral nominee that came from a Nazi. I know the Times standards don't permit them to talk about the stories they get from Nazis.
So who gets to chastise them for violating journalism standards?
Trump's argument for the elimination of the estate tax is that the heirs of the super rich will no longer have to go beg a predatory Jewish banker for a bridge loan to overcome cash flow problems associated with the $15 million dollar estate they're about to get.
“His GPA did not warrant it, his SAT scores did not warrant it. We thought for sure, there was no way this was going to happen. Then, lo and behold, Jared was accepted.”
